million in the year 2015, which is around 9.4% of the total population. It is estimated that around

is observed in case of adults and children. It is observed that diabetes can lead to other adverse
effects. According to Boonsatean et al. (2016), diabetes can never be cured but can lead to
remission. Hence, it is essential to manage diabetes in order to avoid any further health
deterioration. The report focusses on the part of healthcare staff and the nurses in the
management of diabetes with the help of physical exercise. The discussion includes the research
question, the problem statement, methods and the literature search to evaluate the effectiveness

patient who are suffering from diabetes. The respondents who are suffering from diabetes and
the nurse who take care of the diabetic patient are selected as respondents. Questionnaires are
distributed among the respondents. The questionnaire which is distributed among the patient
evaluates their awareness regarding the efficiency of physical activity in the handling of the
diabetes. The questionnaire which is distributed among the nurse involves their role and
responsibility of the nurse in the management of diabetes by the help of the physical exercise.
Data that has been collected from the conducted survey is analyzed further to evaluate the
roles and responsibilities of the nurse in the management of diabetes by the help of the physical
exercise.

Nursing is demarcated as thee profession which aims to provide quality care to the patient

of the body as well as also helps in the management of the moving disability, which is common
in case of geriatric patient. Hence, in order to do that, the nurse should educate the geriatric
individual and their family member about the correlation between physical activity and the
management of diabetes.
Nurse should gather information regarding the types of physical activity and its effects on
the patient, who is suffering from diabetes and after evaluating the effect they should suggest the
best among all the interventions to the diabetic patient for their effective treatment (Bodenheimer
& Bauer, 2016). Diabetes also contributes in the enhancement of the death and in the reduction
of life expectancy rate. Hence, by creating awareness about physical activity, nurse will be able
to reduce the death rate as well increase the life expectancy rate.
According to the Powers et al. (2017), physical activity helps in lowering the blood
pressure and along with that it also helps in increasing the insulin resistance into the body thus
by reducing the adverse effect of diabetes. Exercise such as walking and aerobic exercise lowers
the blood glucose level of the patient, decreases the level of harmful LDL, triglycerides and
cholesterol in the body and reduces anxiety which are the signs and symptoms of the diabetes. It
is the role of the diabetic nurse to evaluate the best strategy that can be used for the effective
management of the diabetes. Physical activity helps in the effective assessment of the diabetes.
According to the Munshi et al. (2016), the involvement in the physical activity is the self-
