E-PORTFOLIO OF BUSINESS IN DIGITAL AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY
WEEK 1/2
TASK: CREATE YOUR HYPOTHETICAL BUSINESS
In the agricultural science, it is known that the growth of crops depend of many factors such as
the amount of water and fertilisers use, and the weather conditions in that region. However,
Jayaraman et al. (2015) opined that weather conditions can be difficult to accurately predict all
the times, and the growth rate as well as the yield of crops can get hampered due to the farmer
not knowing the exact need of water or fertiliser for the crops, resulting in inadequate use of
fertiliser or water. This business in the digital agricultural sector will provide a service to the
clients by delivering information regarding the needs and growth of their crops, as well as
alerting them about any unprecedented upcoming natural disaster that can harm their crop health.
In order to efficiently predict the crop needs, the latest data regarding the weather conditions will
be collected from the satellite systems used by the government of UK, and latest information
regarding the soil conditions will be collected from the Department of Geology in the
government of the UK. On the other hand, these weather-related and soil-related data will also be
collected in real-time using drones equipped with various sensors, which will allow
crosschecking of the collected data, increasing its reliability (Cape, 2018). Moreover, the various
specifics regarding the crops, such as the date of sowing and area of harvesting is also collected
as digital data from the clients through mobile applications running in digital platforms such as
Android and IOS installed in their phone. Finally, these data will be correlated and analysed
using specially designed software engines running in cloud computing systems, and the most
optimal actions that the farmer clients should take in order to maximise their crop yield will be
generated and delivered to the clients through the same mobile application in their phone. The

information systems used in this business are the digital applications installed in the farmer
clients' smart phone, the cloud computing system used to analyze data, and the Internet of Things
used to collect and exchange various information.
WEEK 3/4
TASK: WHAT ROLE WILL THESE EMERGING TRENDS PLAY IN YOUR
BUSINESS?
In this business, the trends that will be the most advantageous in order to utilise in the business
operations of this particular business are the cloud, apps and internet of things.
The cloud: The cloud in digital technology is the storage and computing power rented out by a
vendor, which allows their clients to process digital data without having to buy their own digital
computing infrastructure (Rittinghouse and Ransome, 2016). In this business, all data related to
weather and crop environment will be processed in the cloud, which will significantly reduce the
operational cost of this business. Moreover, cloud computing will also significantly increase the
data handling capacity and shorten the time required for data processing.
Apps: Stawarz, Cox and Blandford (2015) argued that due to the rapid increase in the usage of
digital platforms, the mobile applications have been designed as a mean to perform various tasks
right from the smart phone, including fetching information from internet and availing various
web-based services. In this business of digital agriculture, the clients will be sending their crop-
related information through the official app of the business over internet, and receive all the
predictions, suggestive directions and alerts regarding the growth of their crops through the same
app in their phone. This will significantly enhance the convenience of the clients in using this
service, enhancing the brand reputation of this business among them.

Internet of Things: The internet of things, commonly known as IoT, is the connectivity of
various electronic devices through the internet, which allows these devices to seamlessly transfer
the collected data to other internet-connected devices for further processing to generate
inferences (THOMAS et al. 2016). In this business, the usage of IoT is multidirectional, as most
of the information regarding the weather and soil conditions at the location of a farm, such as the
temperature or humidity, will be detected and recorded using various sensors, which will allow
the information collected from the satellites and government databases to be cross-checked,
enhancing the accuracy of the suggestions delivered to the clients.
Supply chain: Guaranteeing convenient transportation is a pivotal adjusting segment toward
enterprises in the region of web-based business. The administration of a propelled business is
prosperous additionally that has much intrigue, consequently, develop in the green centre zone,
improving the store network the executive's procedure for these organizations and assuming an
essential job in guaranteeing proficient and quicker conveyance models. Mechanical
advancements are additionally empowering other crucial zones of the digital supply chain, for
example,
brand assurance, which is referred to imperceptible advanced markers to help fake battle items,
administration of port, which is an independent cargo transport debuts, stock administration,
which is an RFID chip that has hack-confirmation (Hugos, 2018). Distribution centre
administration, which is a robot innovation for community-oriented robotized request picking,
foundation that is sending automatons to examine spans and conveyance, which deals with
utilizing automatons to convey shipments.

In particular, new businesses spend significant time in warehousing, and coordination
arrangements are picking up stability since the new business proposes excellent computerization
chances to e-business organizations. Web-based business organizations are likewise putting
resources into developing innovative new companies to pick up an upper hand and amplify
benefits. As indicated by 2015 appraisals, stockroom centered organizations expanded ventures
near 8%, over passing $1 billion within complete speculations.
Digital payment methods: Accommodation is a first offer related to a web-based business.
Quicker, productive and secure installment choices have assumed a significant job in driving the
phenomenal development of the online business showcase as of late.
Installment modes will change in general shift crosswise over locales, for example, the United
States, Furthermore, Canadian markets are overwhelmed with MasterCard installments, while
the digital market of Europe is increasingly incomplete towards charge cards and advanced
finances exchanges. Rising economies, then again, are yet situated in real money; in any case,
they also are quickly pushing to the direction of digital business (Todor, 2016). Many beneficial
methods are used by several organizations, such as the Google wallet and the Apple pay, which
are discovered by two well-known organizations named as Google and Apple. Now a day the
organization needs to adopt some online payment method for their customer as the customers are
used to shop via the online website of that organization. Therefore, that, digital payment methods
play a vital role in organizational growth.

WEEK 7/8
WEEK 7 TASK: CYBER SECURITY IN YOUR BUSINESS
The concerns regarding cyber security has become increasingly important in the modern age due
to the rapid development of digital technologies and increasing use of the internet for exchanging
confidential and sensitive information. In this business, implementing proper cyber security
measures is essential, as this business functions almost entirely over the digital system. Fielder et
al. (2016) argued that the cyber security measures that will be taken in this business will mainly
be related with encryption of the entire pool of data handled by the business system, and the
security system that will need to be present in the cloud computing system in order to prevent
any third party from accessing it. To ensure that the data sent by a client containing his private
details and the information regarding the crops in his farm can only be received by the cloud
computing system, the mobile application of this company will utilise AES-256 SSL encryption
system to encrypt the data exchanged over internet. Moreover, system protection services like
Cloudflare will be used to protect the cloud computing system, which will protect against any
unauthorised third party from accessing it. Cherdantseva et al. (2016) argued that the
importances of these cyber security measures are multidirectional, as it will maintain the
uninterrupted services of digital assistance in agricultural activities intact. This will also allow
the business company to maintain their ethical standpoint of 100% customer privacy protection,
and will enhance the brand reputation of the company.
