INTRODUCTION
Digital Media representation basically indicates the various digital media tools and
platforms that are being used by individuals and represent the ways in which the these digital
media portrays and influence particular groups, experiences, communities, ideas, or topics that is
associated with a particular or specific ideological or any other value perspective (Technology
and teenagers, 2020). The digital artefact selected for current report is internet and this report
consists of how the young people of society are being depicted by use of internet along with its
influence on their lives and society.
Main Body
Internet is a human made artefact that represent the a global and vast network of computer
that are connected for providing a larger number of information and communication facilities
through making use of standardized communication protocols and interconnected networks
(Roberts and et. al., 2020). This digital media representation and artefact lead to a significant
influence on adolescents or younger individuals of society. A discussion and critical evaluation
about the possible uses of internet for youngster along with its influence on their lives of
youngster and society is provided below:
Use of internet by young people
In today’s modern world use of internet and other digital media representation has
increased with a rapid speed because of the various advantages that are lead by it. The main areas
and aspects where use of internet is made by young people are discussed below:
Effective communication- The main aspect where use of internet is commonly seen by
youngsters consists of as an effective means of communication. Through providing reach to
various of digital media platforms like SKYPE and other tools effective communication could be
lead by internet with the help of video conferencing and other means that lead a better way for
youngsters to interact with their families, friends and other interested person at global level
(Aboujaoude, 2019).
Online banking and shopping- The another use of internet by young people consists
making online payments and doing online shopping. Use of internet facilitates more faster and
smarter way of banking that attract and influence youngster to make more enhanced and more
viable use of internet as it lead to a 24/7 hour services and more convenient way of making

payments and online transaction (Snee, Morey and Hine, 2020). Further, youngsters are also
more attracted towards online shopping as it provide a better way to compare and check larger
number of products and their prices without going to store. Thus, online banking and shopping
are also the main use of internet by a young people.
Online learning and education- The biggest beneficial aspect and most wider use of
internet consists of online learning and education facility that cater and influence youngsters to
make use of internet. Use of internet facilitates an easy reach and assess to abundant information
and ensures effective learning for youngsters with the help of online global learning programmes
and channels from various parts of world.
Entertainment purpose- Internet has also been used as a means of entertainment as it
provide a platform through use of which youngsters can easily watch various movies, shows and
other entrainment content including various games and other featured things (Hargittai, Piper and
Morris, 2019). Thus, entertainment is also a vital aspect that attracts youngsters to make
enhanced and more wider use of internet.
Influence of internet on lives of young people
Internet leads to both positive and negative influence on lives of young people. The
positive influence of internet on lives of youngsters includes a better and enhanced way of
learning and education for youngsters along with enhanced communication and online facilities.
Internet had provided a means and a worldwide platform for youngsters to learn new skills and
talents and also facilitates their effective connection with the whole world at global level (The
Internet Influences The Younger Generation!, 2019). But apart from these positive influence
many negative influence is also lead by internet that consists of addiction towards social media
and other digital platforms of internet that lead to many disorder and diseases in youngsters and
hampering their ability to work. Apart from this increasing case of cybercrime and hacking by
young people along with deterioration of social skill of teenagers is also representing the
negative influence of internet on the lives of young people (Huang, Teo and Zhou, 2020).
Impact of internet on young people with respect to social context
The main impacts and issues that are lead by enhanced use of internet by young people
with respect to social context that hamper their performance as a part of society consist of
following main points:

Internet Addiction Disorder- The biggest impact of internet with respect to social context
consists of increased cases and chances of internet addiction disorder in young people and lead to
many detrimental and negative impacts on physical fitness and also on mental health of
youngsters (Aboujaoude, 2019).
Web Crime and Cyber bullying - Another impact that is lead by use of internet on society
consists of enhanced web crime and Cyber bullying along with issues like hacking of data and
misuses of content by young people of society.
Assess to Inappropriate material and content- The another implication lead by internet
on society consists of easy reach of youngsters to Inappropriate material and content that is not
good for their minds and future development. It has lead to enhanced cases and implication of
issues like sexist, racist, etc and a more aggressive and adverse attitude of young people towards
their lives(Filsinger and Freitag, 2019).
Deterioration of social skill- The another impact of enhanced use of internet consist of
deterioration of social skill of young people as they feel more comfortable in building
relationship with strangers on online communication but it become difficult for them to build
good personal relationship due to enhanced use of internet.
CONCLUSION
With respect to above report, it can be concluded that Interact is a vital digital media
representation that is continuously used by youngsters for many reasons that consists of
communication, educational purpose, online banking and shopping and many more. It could be
summarised that use of internet have both positive and negative influence on young people of
society that consist of better way of learning and communication along with enhanced risk of
cybercrime and deterioration of social skill.
