Many organizations have used Information systems (IS) for managing and controlling
their business operations in a good manner. IS-system has used for managing all the
processes, which are helpful for monitoring business processes as well. In addition, digital
strategies have used for improving productivity and performance if a business (Bharadwaj,
El Sawy, Pavlou, & Venkatraman, 2013). There are many things to improve businesses, such
as innovations, technologies, and more. This report will provide the benefits of IS and its
strategies. It will summarize the outcomes of the report in the later sections. Moreover., this
report will discuss the role of IS-systems in the Coles supermarket.
Role of information system
A firm can take competitive advantages using the adoption of technological
innovations. Besides, IS-systems have increased the performance of employees as well as
firm (Chaffey, Dave & White, 2010). Moreover, basic fundamentals can be used for
improving business processes (Hevner & Chatterjee, 2010). There are many things to
manage in a proper manner in a business, which can be possible using IS-system.
Besides, management information systems (MIS) has used for managing all the
processes including data and information (Laudon, & Laudon, 2016). Moreover, the
information system can improve the accuracy and performance of the systems as well. There
are many benefits of IS-systems including accounting, inventory, finance, and many others.
The culture of an organization has affected form digital disruption. In addition, Coles
has faced many issues and challenges in the business processes, which has removed using
different types of IS-systems including MIS, strategic information systems, transaction
information systems, and many others. However, there are some issues and challenges in
front of various processes (Markgraf, 2018).
Many processes can manage using IS-systems in a more accurate way, such as
inventory, strategic business strategies, CRM, and more. The culture of the workplace has
changed because of technological innovations in case of communication and collaboration
(Moorty, 2017). In addition, MIS is the best tool for managing data and information on
business (O'Brien & Marakas, 2005).

Coles have used different types of IS-systems for managing their business functions,
such as Transaction processing system (TPS), and Executive support system (ESS). In
addition, Decision support system (DSS) is helpful for managing various processes, such as
decision-making. Management Information system (MIS) is used for data management.
Knowledge Management System (KMS) has used for managing and share knowledge ass
well. Office Automation System (OAS) is used for basic operations. Coles grows in the
market because of technology as well. Moreover, Coles is a well-known company in
Australia for retail business (Rohloff, 2011).
Moreover, Coles has used LETTUS for managing its inventory and another process,
which is beneficial for improving the performance of a system. It has increased the workflow
of the company as well. In addition, decision-making processes can be better with the IS-
systems because it has provided real-time data within a few minutes, which is helpful in the
decision-making processes (Seethamraju, 2015).
Besides, the knowledge management system has provided help in the sharing and
creation processes. It is helpful in business growth and joint ventures as well. Besides
transaction processing system has used for managing various things that are related to
accuracy and efficiency. Coles has used TPS for day-to-day transactions in its centralized
database system (Yoder, 2017).
Furthermore, MIS has increased the performance of employees, which has affected
their product that makes a huge impact on the revenue of the company as well. Moreover,
there are some basic processes in the supermarket, which can be managed using IS-systems
in better ways. There are many cloud service providers in the market, which has included
online services as well, such as data storage, data management, processing, and many others
(Stair & Reynolds, 2013).
Coles has taken various financial decisions based on the data of MIS, which is
beneficial for them in the future as well. Moreover, MIS has used for managing all the
processes, which are helpful in the future as well. Therefore, many firms have adopted IS-
systems for financial decisions as well (Wu, Casey, Hazen, & Hall, 2013).
In addition, culture has affected the various business processes including inventory,
sales, marketing, and many more. Business processes can be used for improving the revenue
and profit of the company as well. Business intelligence is necessary for the present era for
getting success in the market (Ullah & Lai, 2011).

performance in their business. However, there are many changes in technology, but it has
provided better outcomes. In addition, Coles has managed its basic services for improving
productivity and accuracy. Data management is easier with the IS-systems. However, cyber
risks can be a challenge in front of the company as well. Coles has adopted new packing and
delivery systems as well which makes performance better. Thus, the supply chain system can
be used for managing all the things. It is necessary to manage all the things. All the processes
can be integrated using IS-systems as well. However, basic processes can be used for
improving accuracy on the systems as well. Moreover, Coles is successful in the industry
because of technological innovations.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this report has been successfully analyzed the role of the IS-system in
the Coles super market’s business processes. The firm has used different types of IS-systems
including MIS, TPS, and many others. Coles has taken many benefits to form the IS-systems,
which are beneficial for their business. Besides, decision-making has provided better outputs
because of ERP systems. Cloud-based systems have used for better services in Coles as well.
Finally, IS-systems will provide better results.
