Introduction
In digital image processing, it simply refers as a method to perform various operations and
tasks on particular image with respect to taking care of the quality of that image or extract
some information about that particular image which is useful, and in it input is in the form
of image or signals of processing image and output occurs in the form of image or some
characteristic or feature of that image, and it is also present in the form of use algorithm of
computer.

LO1 Be able to create digital images for specific purposes
A.C 1.1 Identify sources for digital images such as primary and secondary sources
for the given case study
Image processing is a simple method of performing any operation on an image, in respect to
derive an enhanced quality image with some useful information in it, and it is a single
process system hence in its user input is in the form of single image and output comes in the
form of image or with some additional feature of that image, and there are 2 types of image
processing available in image processing.
Analogue image processing
Digital image processing
A digital image consists of some important techniques and process which help images in
Manipulation of any image with the help of computer, digital image processing used
for pre-processing of any image, extraction and enhancement.
Importance of digital image: image processing is important for enhancing the quality of any
image and this process is used as a process to upgrade any blurred image. Digital image is
used in a computer as a computer algorithm and follows different
Processes:
Create
Process
Communicate
display
Also, digital image processing used an algorithm in it that is used to convert any
signal of an image into digital image for display and print. There are also 2 types of sources
which we used while digital image processing.
Primary source
Secondary source
Primary source:
Primary source provides direct way for handling any person, object or any type of work.
Through using of primary source user get to find the original material or product on which
user apply any processing, and the important part of any primary source it only consists
original copy of any material, and primary source is Also helpful to learn about the previous

thing. Useful primary sources are those who developed or created in between the time
period and there are also various parts or things available in primary source it includes:
Personal letters
Diaries
Recordings
Authentication and verification of Aadhar card, PAN card or some other different original
document.
Figure 1: Primary source
Secondary source:
Secondary source are those sources which are used widely for processing any digital image,
these sources are used after completion some other process like analysis, interchanging of
primary source. These sources are not considered in first hand like documents which are
inside secondary source is not fresh. And it is used to combine all resources or data from
primary source, and these types of data could be in written format or in e-content format.
There is also some various kind of parts available in it:
Essay and notes from different sources like newspaper, journals, etc.
Books having knowledge like dictionary
School or college book like history
Process and any kind of data or resources which consist index and context in it
Figure 2: Secondary source

There are also 2 more sources also present in digital image processing
Recording:
In digital image processing there is various cameras present who offers good quality of
image and also take a photo that allows various features inside it and which include
recording as well. So basically it is used to memories all provided document and object
which are available and need to be performed. And also convert input signals into output
signals, in digital image processing recording is only take in signals form. And wave form or
recording consist image and audio recording.
Figure 3: Recording
Sampling: In digital image processing changing signals from analogy to digital signal
consider in sampling, sampling process is generally based on analysis and it is a method
where user take sample from the large amount of data and change it in to some digital
process.
Figure 4: Sampling
Primary sources consider various examples in it like:
Camera: Camera is considering in primary source example because camera is used to
capture any photograph therefore it is often consider as a primary source because painting
and photograph shows the past event, and also people as they were in some before:

Figure 5: Camera
USB device: USB device is stand for universal serial bus which is generally used as a flash
drive for storing the data which include some flash memory and interface as well and it is
consider in primary source because most of the USB devices are removable and rewritable.
And also it sends same and common signals all across connected device.
Figure 6: USB device
Scanner: Scanner is a reading device which is generally used to read or find some
Specific text or information in very quick order. And it is consider in primary source
Because this device is also use to capture any image , and scanner further divide into
2 parts with respect to their printing image:
High - resolution print
Low - resolution print
Figure 7: Scanner

Secondary sources consider various examples in it like:
Internet: Internet is a simple source which is used for connecting any computer via
Particular router or server, and it is useful source because if any device connected with
Internet then they can send or receive any kind of data and information like photo,
Video etc.
Magazine: Magazine is a simple source which is used for publishing any schedule or some
content, article, and some faces in it as well.
Journal: it is source which is used for detailing any account and for all the financial
transactions and as well as for business and used for some other accounting records as well.
Newspaper: Newspaper is a simple source which is used for containing all the information
about the current event, and basic function of any newspaper is to interpret.
Raster and vector: In graphics we generally used raster and vector, raster graphics is used to
composed of pixel and vector graphics are used to compose any path. Raster graphics
consider some JPEG files in it which are simply collection of an array and these are the most
common editor present which is used in photoshop. And vector image contains paths which
having started and ending point in it. And Vector graphics are not used for the pixels in it
images lose their quality.
