Introduction
Digital image creation and development is a part to create a digital image using different
software. These digital images are used for different purpose like, in website, banner and others.
Current assignment is to create digital images for a website of the selected hotel that is One
Aldwych form UK.
In this task, users are able to know about digital image systems and what is the equipment that
helps to create digital images. In this task, users are using GIMP tool for creating digital images.
It is an open source tool which is compatible with Windows OS, Mac OS, Linux, and UNIX.
Define sources of digital images in the first part and different formats of images in the second
part. The third part includes the process of digital images created with their output and the last
section includes the evaluation of digital images.

LO1 Be able to create digital images for specific purposes
1.1 Identify sources for digital images
The digital image is composed of pixels elements and each pixels elements represents the colour
at a single point in the image. Pixel is also considered as a tiny dot of a particular colour. By
using a large number of tiny dots, digital images are created. Pixels are arranged in a regular
pattern i.e. in rows and columns. A rectangular array of pixels in the digital image is termed as a
bitmap (Stanford, n.d.).
Sources for capturing digital images
Clip Art: It is a collection of images that can be imported into a document or another
program. The images may be either raster graphics or vector graphics. It is available in a
large number of file formats which are either bitmap or vector graphics (Definitions and
Hope, 2017).
Video: Video is a combination of multiple images or digital images. It is a visual
multimedia source that combines a number of images to form a moving picture. It is a
film or programs that are recorded digitally. Digital video is come with combines’
features of graphics and audio to create dynamic content and multimedia products
(Slideshare.net, 2015).
Besides this, there are two types of sources i.e. primary source and secondary source
Primary source
It is a document or physical objects that are usually considered to be items like personal letters,
diaries, etc. It is originally created when the historical event happened. It is an instance that
includes autobiographic, diaries, legal document, letters, etc. These sources help to understand
and elaborate the past in a much simpler and better way. It also provides the important raw
material for historical research.

Figure 1: Primary Source
Secondary Source
A secondary source is used to analyze, summarize and interpret the primary source. It contains
commentary and discussion about the primary source. Interpretation is the most important
features of a secondary source. It includes encyclopedias, manuscripts, biographies, magazine,
journal, etc. (libguides, 2018).

Recording
The design of the digital recording system is elaborate that user can take up to eight image signal
simultaneously. Pixel and array of images allow improving the signal to noise ratio (Browne et
al., 2019).

Sampling
Basically, sampling is used to reduce the noise by more taking samples as well as helps to the
digitization of coordinate values. More samples may collect more data or pixels (Buzztech, n.d.).

Primary Source
Cameras: Camera is used to capture images. Digital cameras record photographic
images in digital form. There are many types of cameras introduced but in the day to day
technology era when it comes to advance then, everybody uses a professional camera i.e.
DSLR ( Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. Beneath the camera body, there is a mirror
that reflects the light coming from the lens up into an optical viewfinder. It provides the
facility to see the real-time scene (Burgett, 2019).
Scanner: It is a device that helps to capture images from the poster, magazine pages,
photographic prints, etc. as well as similar sources for computer editing. It is used to
optically transmit the two-dimensional images into signals; and then send to the computer
(Rouse, 2010).
USB: It is abbreviated as Universal Serial Bus. It allows the computer to communicate
with peripheral and other devices. It is also used to send power certain devices. It helps to
send data into devices as well as it is helpful for internet connection via another device
like smartphones, tablet, etc. (Hope, 2018).
Secondary Source
Internet: It is a worldwide system of a computer network. The Internet is also used to
share images at a different location within seconds. It plays a major role in day to day life
for sharing images on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. (uses of the internet, 2017).
Magazines: Nowadays digital images are also used in the magazine. Digital magazines
are available to read contents electronically. These include newspaper publications,
journal, etc. It is environmentally friendly and convenient in both ways to store and read
as well (Helyer, 2018).
News Papers: Digital images also used in the newspaper. New computer technology
helps to improve the colour of the newspaper by allowing digital images.

1.2 Create digital images from sources for specific purposes:
Various tools that are helpful for creating a digital image like Canva, Sketch, CloudApp,
PowerPoint, Easel.ly, Graphics Image Manipulation Program Tool, etc. In this task, the GIMP
tool has used. It is an open source and widely used software for creating digital images as well as
having the functionality to enhance images in a better way. It also provides many features for
enhancing images like Hue, Saturation, Color Balance, Cropping, etc. This tool is used by
photographers, graphic designer, etc. It is the most standard tool for modifying the digital image.
Mainly it is used for raster image editing, graphic design and digital art in multiple layers. These
layers can also support transparency and also act as a filter that can alter underlying images in
the layers below them. Shadows and alpha compositing effects also applied while creating digital
images. By default file extension is.XCF (GIMP Document) is used for saving images or
pictures. The alternative software is GIMP (Graphic Image Manipulation Program). It is also free
editing tools which are highly used for graphics editing and give a high-quality reflection in
images. It is platform independent tool so that it is compatible for every platform like Windows
OS, Mac OS, Linux, UNIX, etc.
Here, users take images of “One Aldwych” which is in London and apply modification and
editing in images for keeping high-quality images. In this task, five to six images have taken for
editing into digital images. Pictures like a conference room, dining room, hotel building,
reservation area, a selfie of guests, swimming pool, etc.
For creating digital images with GIMP tool has used and for capturing images Camera has used.
These are the list of images that shown below.
