DIKW research method
DIKW is basically a knowledge management and data value extraction model that
supports an effective relationship between the data, information, knowledge and
wisdom that is pyramid used method which root knowledge management. The four
main level and stages of DIKW research are provided as below:
 Data collection
 Information
 Knowledge
 Wisdom

Academic grit
The term grit can be defined as the sustained perseverance and passion for long-term goals.
Thus, Grit is basically a trait and ability that reflects the ability of keep working towards
achievement of goal with passion and confidence.
Importance of academic grit
The academic Grit is important because it is a driver of achievement and success,
independent of and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute. Further, without grit,
talent may be nothing more than unmet potential and it is only with effort and grit that
talent becomes a skill which leads to better success and growth.

Collection of data
Collection of data is mainly related with gathering of the
raw facts. Method used for collection of data for current
DIKW research are provided as below:

Information
Information is stimuli that has meaning in
some context for its receiver. Information is
something that is derived by analysis and
interpretation of the facts and raw data that
have some sense and importance for the
researcher and other scholars.

Knowledge
Knowledge basically reflects the Information, derived from the collected
data and how that is relevant for achievement of the goals. Thus,
Knowledge comprises of the pieces of the collected information and
analysis how these are connected to other pieces to add more meaning and
value in order to understand how to apply it to achieve goals.

Knowledge – Comparative Analysis
A comparison between secondary and primary data can be made where
secondary data comprises of analysis of pre exiting information whereas
primary is concerned with first-hand information. The collected primary data
in more numeric in form that reflects that 18 participants were having
understanding about the Angela’s work and its impact on passing CRAAP
test. Further, the primary data also provide first-hand information about the
grit score and academic qualification level of classmates.

Wisdom – A decision making approach
It is the last step of DIKW research which is related
with the processing of the final result and making
efficient decision and contextual ideas which
comprises of practical use of the gained information
and knowledge. Thus, it comprises of a thought
process of right and wrong and making effective and
improved decision based on contextual framework.

Conclusion
A conclusion can be made that the Use of DIKW is important and vital as it effectively
represents a knowledge pyramid each level (data, information, knowledge and wisdom) of
which hierarchy adds attributes and value for effective decision making. Further, a conclusion
can be made that development of grit supports achievement of the Objective to develop
improved level of Confidence and conscientiousness along with higher motivation and passion
towards improvement in academic level by the way of leading passion and confidence level
that drive talent into skill.
