1.1 Overview of the Research
Digital tools and technologies has a vast impact on all aspects of life and global economy
in recent undergoing fundamental transformation (Behrendt and et. al., 2012). Digital tools and
technologies plays crucial role in developing organisational as well as economic condition of
society. In this modern era large a wide range of people are busy with digital tools and
technologies as these are helpful in making humans life more easy and comfortable. In this
digital era competition is so high at market place and each small as well as large business
enterprises are concern on rendering variety of high featured products and services to their
potential buyers in order to satisfying their needs and wants. Information and digital tools and
technologies has a huge influence in most of the business sectors in all aspects of economy,
while business and organisations regularly undergoing towards a considerable changes. In this
modern business environment each firm is concern on adopting technologies as these are helpful
in revolutionising the rules and regulations of business enterprises, this create value in structural
transformation of enterprises. With the emergence of digital tools and technologies, profitability
of firms are increased as these are essential in providing significant direction to the business and
its operations. Nintex USA LLC is a chosen company for this particular research dissertation,
the company deals in providing workflow automation software and platform for business users,
developers and information technology professionals (Cavusgil and et. al., 2014). The
fundamental purpose of firm is to exploring their business operations through satisfying the
needs and wants of people at wide area.
1.2 Background of the Research
Today's business world has been vastly influenced through digital technologies as these
plays essential role in improving business and its operations at wide area of market. As a small
business enterprises Nintex is focused on fulfilling the basic demands of people through
analysing the market and its needs. The company was established in the year of 2006, in
Bellevue, United States. The company has around 50 employees who are contributing their vast
efforts in developing organisational operations in order to gaining high growth and success. The

company basically provides workflow and platform which allows users to automate core
business processes and operations (Chen, Heyer and et. al., 2015). The company mainly offers
its solutions for automating different processes, like human resource, finance, administrations
and operations. Small and medium size business are effective for economic growth of country as
these are concern on exploring their business activities at large scale through offering variety of
products and services to their users as per their choices and preferences.
1.3 Significance of the Research
The present research is based on the implication of digital technologies on small and
medium size business enterprises. The major purpose of conducting the research is to analysing
the importance of digital equipments at work place as its implications of developing
organisational performance and productivity (Dai and et. al., 2012). Organisation faces various
kind of issues and conflicts in implementation of digital tools and technologies within working
environment of firm. For this firms are providing training session to their new and existing
employees in order to developing their skills and ability to work with more passion and co-
ordinator. The current research is effective for developing skills and knowledge of learner at
market place (de Araújo, and Søndergaard, 2014). Further more digital tools and technologies
helps in enhancing the production function of firm through establishing innovative ideas and
tools at work place. High sales of firm shows profitable condition of firm as increasing sales of
firm has a direct impact on organisational growth and success.
1.4 Research Aim
This considered to be a most essential part of research dissertation as it helps in
enhancing the skills of researcher on a particular research issue and provide a significant
direction in order to reaching at final result and outcome. The fundamental aim of this current
study is to analyse the various characteristics of digital technologies and its impact on Small and
medium size business such as Nintex. The essential aim of this particular research is to
identifying the implications of digital technologies on SME’s”. A case study on Nintex.

This can be described as the results which are sought by the researcher at the end of the

2.1 Identifying the need of digital technology in small and medium business enterprises.
Businesses now a days are increasing its operations to gain customers this is only
possible if their demands are addressed in a constructive manner (El-Gohary, 2012). Technology
is one of the most important component of business in today's era, without it a business
organisation can not operate in a competitive environment. The technological infrastructure that
a company possess will affect various components of a business organization this include
efficiency, culture etc. As per the views stated by George Collins, 2017 There are various tools
and technologies which boosts the growth of a small and medium business and allows it grow
exponentially as compare to its competitors. The need of Digital technology can be described as
follows : Communication and relationship with customers : If the company carries latest tools
and digital technology environment within company, it helps company in dealing with
customers and maintaining a healthier relationship with them over longer period of time
(Hameed, Counsell and Swift, 2012). Communication with clients is also efficiently
handled because of proper digital platforms within company which allow employees to
deal with customers efficiently. Some of the ways through which they solve queries of
their customers are social media platforms, websites internet etc (Hao, Kasper and
Muehlbacher, 2012). It brings efficiency in operations : If there is proper digital technology which is being
applied within organization it helps company in reducing cost and increasing efficiency
because the time to complete a particular task gets reduced and company is able to
allocate it somewhere else, therefore this results in efficiency in operation and it increases
overall productivity of organization. There are various technological tools which are
being implemented in companies it includes inventory management software which is
responsible calculation and management of inventory (Hotho and Champion, 2011).
Executives are taking decisions by holding meetings on online platforms like Skype etc.

a business opportunity. If a company carries an effective digital learning platform at work place
it will allow its employees to serve customers and well and responds to their queries in timely
manner which will enhance the reputation and brand image of company in the market, which
ultimately will benefit company in long run. If a proper digitisation process will be followed by
company, it will help company in managing its vast resources well and in an effective manner.

productivity in overall business operation within organization. The idle time is also one of the
factor which reduces productivity and overall profitability of an organization. A company should
look for reducing these idle time by proper management and monitoring of processes and
procedures. If there exist some bottlenecks within processes such should be addressed at the
foremost and solutions for the same should be devised. Yet another thing on which a company
