Background of study
The recent time the use of digital tools and technology is enhanced as this will help people more

to get connected with the latest news and society which improve their lifestyle and confidence.

The below study will be conducted to identify the importance of digital technology and its tools

for living in the digital world. The report will discuss the use of technology in different types of

sectors which help people to get connected with the world. The study will also conduct an

evaluation and analysis part in which meaning along with the importance of the digital world in

respect of the social construction and self-identify will be discussed.

Task 4

You need to keep a time diary of a week of your life and record all your use of digital

technologies

I am conducting a study to identify the aspects of living in the digital world for which I

maintained by daily dairy for six weeks in which I recorded about my use of digital technology

and tools into my life. Following is the six weeks of my record regarding the use of digital

technology:

1st week (10 January 2018- 17 January 2018):
In this week I use digital technology to get
connected with the organizations in which I am searching to get employment or job. With the

help of the digital technology, I try to post my resume and also get the option of the online

interview which saves my time and efforts.

2nd week (18 January 2018- 25 January 2018):
Between these days I have gathered the data
from various sources through which I have analyzed the use of digital technology in my own life,

and it was found that I also use digital tools to make my some work easy and quick. I use digital

technology for stuff shopping and also use digital technology for online mobile recharge and

payments.

3rd week (26 January 2018- 2 Feb 2018):
In this week I use technology tools for my academic
project. I have used the internet to get the information about the given topic and also take some

of the innovative ideas to make my project creative and attractive. This has helped me to
complete my project on time and also save my efforts.

4th week (3 Feb 2018- 10 Feb 2018):
In this week I use digital technology to book my
accommodation and transportation as I planned to travel somewhere to spend some quality time.

With the help of the official sites of the tour operators and hotels and transportation, I have

booked my flight, hotel room and food previously which help me to get comfort zone whenever I

reached there.

In the workshop, some of the categories are given to me in that I need to create a report which

includes the use of digital technology in social construction, self-identity, education, consumer

choice and their purchasing behaviour. Following is my own findings of these points on the

digital world:

Use of digital technology in social construction:
With the help of social networking sites like-
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. it becomes easy to connect the individual or group of

individuals with each other. I have analyzed that digital technology constructs the social

relationship between the people who are living in the society (Hynan et al., 2014).

Use of digital technology in self-identity:
I have also identified that some of the people create
their image and reputation in the society by getting famous in the society with the help of the

digital technology. Some of the people use YouTube and Facebook to post their videos, images,

and details of their services to create their self-identity in the market.

Use of digital technology in education:
In the current time children as well as teachers are
using digital technology to learn something new. Some online institutions also provide classes

and lectures on the digital tools which help the students to get free of education. I have analyzed

that digital technology not only helps big corporate to get famous but also help people to learn

something new and unique for their qualification (Blackwell et al., 2014).

Use of digital technology in consumer choice and purchasing behaviour:
I have also
analyzed that almost every organization is using e-commerce strategy through which they

provide online shopping facilities to their customers. With this customers or consumer will get

more options to select the products and services. This will also help them to take their purchasing

decision as they can compare the products of different organizations regarding quality and price

and then select the best one.

Meaning and importance of digital world in social construction

The digital world is defined as the inter-connected with the devices of digital or social media to

connect with the entire world easily. There are various types of points which are analyzed and

evaluated to show the importance of the digital world to create self-identity and standard lifestyle

to get connected with the society and to construct social terms. Digital world provides use of

social media, social sites and digital tools which are used by almost every person to make their

self-identity in the market or society and to change their lifestyle (Nambisan et al., 2017). Digital

media produce the self-identity among the society due to which every person get attention and

respect from the people.

With the help of the digital tools or technology in the digital world, people are creating their

relations and terms with the new people that are expanding the range of social terms at large

scale. The digital world is important in the current time because this will provide the information

to the people about the new trends in the market through they will adopt the changes and get

standard of lifestyle. The digital technology also helps me to make my own identity in the

societies that enhance my reputation and living standard (Siemens, 2014). The development in

the self-identity and image help me in social construction or for making a new relationship with

the people.
