2.2 Main Body
Concept of digital transformation
According to Detzel, Mahle and Pätzmann, (2016), digital transformation refers to
reworking of processes, strategies and products by leveraging present technologies. It is required
for a company to examine all the functionalities and operations as well of a business company
ranging from supply chain to improvise skills that are linked with a range of employees. Also
their decision making process by taking into consideration interaction with customers as well as
stakeholders. It assists organisation to stay in pace with rapidly changing demands of customer
so that they can sustain within market for longer duration of time. It enables organisation with an
opportunity to compete in environment which is changing rapidly as technology is enhancing.
Therefore, it is necessary for an organisation to cope up with changes which are made within
technology so that they can ensure their survival in future. Technology is major factor which
drives requirement of digital transformation and support digitization. Organisation need to alter
their processes (Detzel, Mahle and Pätzmann, 2016). Like cloud computing provide organisation
with quick access to software’s, updates and functionalities. Apart from this, it also provides
them with space for data storage enables them to carry out transformations. Commoditized

information technology assist organisation to emphasise on investments on research and develop
customised solution to be different from others within market. Mobile platforms enable them to
work anytime and from anywhere. More accurate decisions related with marketing, sales,
development of products and other strategies areas can be obtained by usage of data programs
like artificial intelligence and machine learning. Other technologies which are responsible for
data transformation are internet of things (IoT), social media, virtual & augmented reality and
block chain.
As per Epstein, (2018), digital transformation refers to alteration in methods used by
organisation to carry out their operations. With enhancement in technology and digital
transformation, organisations are taking back step for improvising whatever they do with respect
to internal system to interaction with customer either it’s online or face to face. This interaction
comprises of questions like are they satisfied with their (organisations) decision-making,
changing efficiencies or personalised experience (Epstein, 2018). Digital transformation is
making usage of existing technologies to enhance the ways in which organisation operates.
Example can be considered of organisation who has undertaken process of digitization by usage
of business transformation. Like General Electric has expanded their manufacturing process to
services like Internet of Things (IoT) which helps them to monitor every aspect of their machine
and optimize them. Another example is of Netflix. It started as a rental company as mail-based
DVD in 1997. It provides customer with customised offerings as per their preferences in video
streaming services.
Importance of transformation process for Apple
According to Dawson, Hirt and Scanlan, (2016), digital transformation is constant. There
are certain reasons for which it is mandatory for organisations to embrace their digital
transformation. Digital innovation will provide Apple a competitive edge within market. It acts
as an opportunity. Internet and technology have eliminated geographic barriers for business and
provided new markets so that organisations can embrace opportunity. To understand this, an
example can be taken New Zealand businesses are headquartered in bottom corner of globe but
at present scenario they are making full usage of opportunities they have by effectual
communication and trading tools which they possess. Apple needs to maximise their speed for
execution of ideas which will enable them to fail fast, to succeed faster (Frishammar and et. al.,
2018). This will make them competitive within market. Employees are major assets of an

Chapter 6 – Conclusion, Recommendations and Implications
As per analysis, it has been analysed that transformation process is a vast concept which
does not stick on single topic. It is required by an individual to give high preference to it in order
to understand its actual concept and benefits. It has been analysed by me that transformation
process directly increases profitability ratio for the companies as it avails them numerous of
opportunities. While conducting this research, various problems are faced in order to attain
objectives. As Apple is an American multinational organisation which is a leader of computer
and electronic market (Niskanen, 2017). Along with this, it is realised that large organisation
feels satisfied as they are getting huge number of opportunity to achieve targeted goal and
objective of company. I have also realised that available fund was not enough for conducting
effective research as its deficiency has stopped in collecting details in depth. Along with this, I
have faced numerous of internal as well as external factors that have stopped me executing this
research in effective manner.
Alternative Methods
There is always an alternative method for doing any kind of activity so that by any means
task can be accomplished. Unlike this, for conducting the research there are other methods as
well which investigator can use different from the approach he/she is using. Therefore, for doing
this research, researcher was using questionnaire in which open ended questions were there and
for these questions options were provided. But other than this, investigator can also use interview
methods as well as it can provide detailed information related to the topic on which research is
being conducted. As a result, it will provide a different perspective and point of view for
analysing the research topic in an effective manner (Kasemsap, 2016).
Conclusion
