INTRODUCTION
Developments is a need of any type of business and firms develops these changes by
considering these as a project in whole organisation (Faria, 2014). Use of digital mobile
technologies is prior a business to run all activities more smoothly and communicate with all
stakeholders in a better manner. This whole project is based on “Best One” which is a grocery
retailer having more than 550 stores in the UK. Digital communication for file and data sharing
is must for cited organisation, and mobile application is also a requirement for them to enhance
customers. This project will gather information from employees for developing digital
technologies in stores. This project will produce aims & objectives, project management plan,
Gantt Chart, primary and secondary research on research topic. After this, it analyse findings
and data on recommendation will be based. At the end of this report a self reflection will be
given which explain self experience while conducting this research.
TASK 1
Aims and Objectives
Research Title:
How digital technology has transformed business activities in operations and
marketing. Case study on “Best One”.
Objectives of the project:
This research project is having objectives which are mentioned in below presented points;
To investigate needs of digital technology in different areas of Best One.
To analyse how business activities get improved by using digital technology in the
organisation.
To identify the impact of digital technology on the Best one.
On the basis of these objectives research will be done to identify the needs of digital
technologies to improve sales and marketing area. As best One is having more than 550 stores in
the UK it is required for them to take a further step and improve their business operations by
using digital technologies.
Aims of the project:
Aim of this project to make a better change in Best One which can help to them to
improve their sales, marketing and operational activities. Main aim of Best One is to improve

their number of customers by 10% till to end of the year. Most of the organisations which are
working in retail sector are using digital media to communicate with customers and stakeholders
so it is essential for Best One also to use digital technology. This project will investigate the
extent of digital technologies use in marketing and operations.
TASK 2
Project management plan
A management plan can help to conduct this research project in an appropriate manner,
as in this project different type of activities has to be done so it is essential for the researcher to
conduct this research in as per project management plan.
Scope of the research project: This project is covering all aspects of the organisation,
mainly focusing on the business operations and marketing which enhance sales of organisation
(Bell, 2014). This research will be based on sales, marketing and operational departments. It is
essential to identify those areas in which company can implement digital technology or those
areas in which company can implement digital technology which can help to them to make a
better change in sales and marketing.
Risk Management: It is essential to identify hidden risks and ways which can help to
reduce impact on risk on this project. Major risk is related with this project is appropriate data
collection so it is essential for researcher to focus on this portions which can help to conduct this
research in appropriate manner which can help to get better data and information from targeted
audiences (McNeil, Frey. and Embrechts, 2015). Another risk behind this is over costing and
over timing, it is essential to conduct this research in a particular time frame which can help to
get appropriate results as per current situations of Best One. As per the above mention cost, this
whole research will be done under this which can help to the researcher to get a better result in
pre determined cost.
Cost Control: It is essential to accomplish this project in a particular cost, so some cost
control measures can be used in this. By allocating budget in different aspects of project can help
to make a proper control on over costing of project (Songini. and Gnan, 2015). As different
activities will be done in this project, it has a huge need of finance allocation for this project. To
conduct this research Pound 120 will be appropriate which is 10% more from recent research
project.

Quantitative research method: This is research method which is used in to gathering
information in numerical figures (Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods. 2017.). In this
type of research most of the research questions are based on to gather information in numerical
data like “how much” and “how many”. Mostly close ended questions are asked in this research
which help to get an exact number. Most of these type of researches are used in to collect
marketing and sales related information form targeted audiences which can help to the researcher
to get an exact information, analyse and give recommendations.
Qualitative research method: This is a research method which is not based on numerical
data, it is usually based on words and pictures to take reviews of targeted audiences and people
in the research (Taylor, Bogdan. and DeVault., 2015). Most of these research are used to get
views and opinion of targeted people on a particular issue and topic which can help to researcher
