INTRODUCTION
The digital technology has become the core for every business in today’s modern era, as it has
given so much of ease to the business whether it is mall business or big business. With the
emergence of technology, it has transformed the traditional business practices with modern
and effective business practices. Technology has upgraded the business background and has
given so many opportunities to the small business firms and enables products to become more
profitable and innovative new products to be developed, leading to increasingly diverse
product portfolios. Its impact is evident at the core of all key business systems which include
the administrative services like cloud technology, sharing of information etc. the other feature
is communication like social media, website development, interaction with other businesses.
The next is storage and distribution of the data with the help of the proper computer network
and structure and the last one is production which includes artificial intelligence , big data
analytics etc.

BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY
The company is continental Consulting Ltd. which deals into business process re-engineering for
the small and medium manufacturing companies. The company has a team of 22 exper
employees who are working are headed by Mario Bindas who is the CEO of the company. The
company is serving the companies locate in London and near Greater London.
The company was set up 8 years ago in London with the latest procedure that cam help the
other companies to improve and re-engineer their products. With the passage of time the
technology which is being used by company became obsolete because a rapid growth and
innovation is noticed in technology which the company has not adopted yet and it affected the
efficiency and productivity of the company. Although company have expertise in their field over
150 years with the help of the experienced and unmatched knowledge of the employees the
company was doing good but with the increased competition the company has lost many
clients for which there is a huge need for the company to go for the technological advancement
to come back on the track.

Project Statement
The digital technology has evolved itself and is giving a big platform for the purpose of the
innovation and growth in the company. Digital technology has made the business more
proficient and eliminated the traditional cumbersome practices. Digital technology especially
has supported the small business for innovation as they can use the technology for the
expansion and profit making by the means of technology which will reduce unnecessary manual
effort and error. This project focuses on the impact of digital technology and how it can help
continental Consulting to grow.

Project Scope
The project report majorly focuses on the impact of digital technology on continental
Consulting and the project is completely unbiased in nature and no unethical means is used in
this project making and it is purely done for the research purpose. The research includes both
the methodology for data collection qualitative and quantitative.

The research is not specific to any geographical area and moreover, it does not cover any other
functional or operational area of Continental Consulting. It only focuses on the positive impact
of digital technology on the company.
Cost Objective
The research will cost for the material used in the research project like the cost of stationery
used, the cost of conveyance, other resources like, internet, IT hardware and software material
etc used in the project.
Resource Requirements
The resources required for the completion of this project report are financial resources and
human resources. As the technical experts were hired and the questionnaire was prepared for
this project report. Assistance from the technical head and supervisor of continental consulting
was also taken in order to have the I.T. resources.
Communication Plan
The support staff will be informed about the purpose of the project to the employees working
in Continental Consulting. It is ensured that there is no lag in the communication with the
research supervisor and the work carried on a daily basis in the research project. The
questionnaire which is prepared for the research purpose will be shared with respondents via
Google and the respondents will be provided with the research outcomes.

Small-Scale Research
The research project focuses on the collection of data with the help of the qualitative and
quantitative method of data collection. The qualitative method includes the journals,
magazines, articles and literature reviews of various authors. On the other hand, quantitative
research includes the quantitative data which is obtained with the help of questionnaires which
are filled by the respondents.
Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is used to collect the information and opinion of the people about the
impact of digital technology on small business firms.
Quantitative Research
This research is done to measure the opinion of the participant the quantitative research is
done. In this type of research, the data is being collected and a calculation is done as the data is
collected from the questionnaire and from the participants.
SECONDARY RESEARCH
Different sources are there for secondary research like articles, books, magazines, blogs.
Journals and other online resources are available for gathering the information which will help
in the development of the research project. This will help me developing a background with the
relevant base for conducting the research.

Various in-depth studies have been done by various research scholars who are studying the
importance of digital technology and its impact on the small business. According to Keeble and
Wilkinson, 2017 small business have started using the technology for the expansion and

development of the business and plays as the powerful, transformative impact is clearly seen in
the world of business. Around 75% are using technological platforms for flourishing. Technology
is becoming a core part of the business. It has enabled the small business to collaborate with
the other business and has given a base for the business to make itself stand in front of big
players who are there in the market. Technology has made a possible business to collaborate
better with their business and with the customers. Technology has evolved the business to a
great extent and has allowed to business to get in touch with so many other sources and the
business person to create the network for the growth and expansion of the business.
Moreover, technology has given facility to the small business to operate on a small level from
anywhere in the world. According to Brocke and Rosemann, 2015 said that technology has
made the small business to operate in a flexible manner and with a transparent workplace to
the small business. Small business has to suffer and handle with so many problems of the
business which technology has made the business easy to tackle the business. Technology has
made the business to get operate at the cost-effective manner with low investment and god
returns as it has helped to manage so many things like inventory, hiring and retention, building
a network, keeping all the calculation, payments etc. which has made the chances of error low
in the business. The technology has a given so many solutions to the small business like HR
solutions, finance software, inventory software, import-export portals, hiring portals,
development of the websites etc. has supported the small business to a great extent.
In terms of the workplace and workforce, technology has grown and helped the small business
as the employees can even work when they are not present in the office and can work online
from anywhere which has given ease of work to the employees and helped to retain the
workforce with the flexibility of working. With effective work and workforce, customer services
have also become better. The online assistance has given support to the customers 24/7 every
query of the customers is being solved the customer interaction has also increased and the
effective feedback from the online forms has helped many companies to work on the weak area
and enhanced themselves to give best to the company.

Furthermore according to Keeble and Wilkinson, 2017 technology has helped in improvement
of the production and process in the companies and factories reason being digitalization has
made the production process more effective and efficient it has reduced the manual work to
great extent and the process has become better and error-free which has also directly affected
the productivity and profit-making ability of the company. When the company is making a good
amount of profit in the market then it becomes easy for the small business to expand itself.
Digitalization has also helped the small business to advertise them and helps the small business
to go for small marketing strategies so that they can build more contacts and expand the
business. Technology has given a significant rise to small business firms in the UK and all over
the world with increased educational opportunities and employment.
PRIMARY RESEARCH
The primary method of data collection is used to collect the original data defining the views and
opinion of the employees of Continental Consulting understanding the impact of digital
technology on its growth. A questionnaire survey will be completed by sending the
questionnaire through email and will include 50 respondents to fill the questionnaire (Johnston,
2017).
