This presentation is going to reveal the impact of digital disruption on construction industry
of UK, include the role of data which has taken as a business tool. A description is made on role
of big data and information in given sector, in terms of types of jobs and skills required for
building a successful career in it. For this purpose, a face to face interview is also being
conducted with an industry professional.

Digital Disruption
Digital disruption refers to the change which occurs when new technologies and business
models, impact on value proposition of existing goods and services. Such digital innovations
include machine learning, big data, internet of things and more, that highly affects the
expectations and behaviour of consumers. It causes organisations to make alternations in
business, by shifting in digital strategy as per feedback of customers. Therefore, if digital
innovations are taken as initiatives, consolidate data assets and brainstorm ideas to create unique
products and employ customer data in innovative ways, then it will prove beneficial for running
business successfully. However, technology in not considered as single source of disruption,
social and economic factors also enable organisations for using the old technologies in
innovative or new ways.
Impact of digital disruption on the construction industry
In construction industry, which having aggregate sales in millions, like other firms also
effected highly by technology disruption. 3D printing is one of such example that has been
promoted, as potential digital disruptor in construction. But as social factors make realisation to
this sector to use old technology in new way, but, it creates challenges to bring unproductive
sites into productive usage. But towards a new dimension, output from construction industry at
global level is expected to raise by trillions in upcoming years. Instead of promising outlook,

Modelling), Basic Data analytics, Drones, Mobile platform and more, which gives opportunity to
