Report
AI Summary
This report, titled "Task 2: Research Outcomes on Digital Wellbeing," presents findings from both qualitative and quantitative research on the impact of digital technology on human wellbeing. The qualitative research, based on secondary sources such as peer-reviewed articles, defines digital wellbeing, explores the advantages of technology in improving lifestyle, such as social connectivity and learning opportunities, and discusses the disadvantages, including privacy concerns and distraction. The quantitative research utilizes a survey method with a sample of 25 participants, examining demographics and attitudes towards technology use for a healthy lifestyle. The findings highlight the benefits of digital technology, the importance of managing time spent on devices, and the need to address privacy concerns. The report also includes project logs detailing the project's progress, including feasibility studies, proposal reviews, and research execution, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing the complexities of digital wellbeing. This report is a contribution by a student on Desklib, a platform that offers AI-based study tools.

2TASK 2: RESEARCH OUTCOMES
1. Findings on qualitative research work
1.1 Digital Wellbeing- definition and purpose
In order to conduct the qualitative research work, the researcher collected data and
information using secondary sources such as peer review journal articles on selected project
title. In form the literature review, the data are analyzed so that it becomes easier for reader to
understand if the digital technologies improve life or distract from it. Ardolino et al. (2018)
stated that digital wellbeing is an extent to which a person can perceive digital devices usage
to align with long term goals. Ciffolilli and Muscio (2018) discussed that digital wellbeing is
a term used by the healthcare professionals to describe concept of the human interaction by
means of technology. The goal of improving the digital wellbeing is designing of technology
in such a manner that it can assist users to get healthy lifestyle.
Based on improving healthy lifestyle of people, digital technologies are used in
health related components. It reduces eye strain in some of the devices. Products like dark
panels in cover screen and special lenses is used to aid with the eye strain. According to
Cecchinato et al. (2019), digital wellbeing increases emphasis on the physical activities along
with nutrition. The technological devices are developed to help the users to bring their fitness
level, track rate of the heart, report on daily basis step count, and monitor their diet and
others. In case of iPhone, it includes this digital features to remind the users to go to sleep at
specified time.
1.2 Advantages of digital technologies to improve lifestyle
Ardolino et al. (2018) mentioned that the goal of digital technologies is to be designed
in such a manner that it can promote healthy usage and support to uphold a healthy existence.
It helps the users to low down unwanted type of screen time and support them to learn about
usage of digital technologies. According to Pagoropoulos, Pigosso and McAloone (2017),

3TASK 2: RESEARCH OUTCOMES
the digital wellbeing is such a feature in the mobile devices provide the users with detailed
view of daily healthy lifestyle on the device. There are various digital wellbeing tools created
to improve over life of human beings. For example, website blockers allows the users to
block specific websites for all the time or specific period of time. It decreases distraction as
well as increases productivity. Application timers used to limit the minutes or hours the user
is spending on specific websites and applications per daily basis. It is mainly used to restrict
access after specific time period (von Briel, Davidsson and Recker 2018). Following are
advantages of digital technologies help to improve life of human beings:
Social connectivity: Jokstad (2017) discussed that the digital technologies can make
life easier to stay in touch with their families and friends. The user can communicate by using
mobile devices in words, videos, audios and other channels. Applications and software are
created to help users to maintain their social lifestyle.
Learning opportunities: Ciffolilli and Muscio (2018) mentioned that the user can
access to internet should also get access to proportion of world’s knowledge over the internet.
Lessons as well as courses are to be delivered online. The digital technology is easier to be
used for people with disabilities and provide them with similar access.
Automation: Rodrik (2018) stated that the digital technology is making the machines
a smarter. In most of the cases, the machines are not required humans to operate it. Smarter
machines is safe for people with providing better experiences to the users.
Information storage: According to Cecchinato et al. (2019), digital technologies
enable storage of amounts of information in smaller spaces. Large quantity of media are
stored in small devices such as mobile devices. Data which are stored online easier to access
from any devices using internet access.

4TASK 2: RESEARCH OUTCOMES
GPS and mapping: The digital devices is involved to refer to digital map combined
with the satellite technology. Devito et al. (2019) illustrated that GPS is used to pinpoint the
position and make easier travelling for the users. It can also update on traffic jams, closures
of roads and update with travel time at the destination.
1.3 Disadvantages of digital technologies and distraction in life
As the technology is becoming more integral to everything, therefore it is distracting
people from other things. It is believed that the technology can improve, while it is not
distracting from it. Following are some of the effects on usage of digital technologies, which
distract the users from their life:
Crime and terrorism: Pagoropoulos, Pigosso and McAloone (2017) stated that internet
is causing the terrorists to use social media for promoting and encouraging others.
Privacy concerns: According to Cecchinato et al. (2019), in the digital world it
becomes hard to get personal privacy. The digital technologies cause dangers to the personal
data being stolen and sold. Everyone has capability to take photos as well as video footage
using the digital devices, and it is posted online. The hackers search for stealing the photos
and misused it in other way. Devito et al. (2019) argued that the digital devices can watch as
well as record each movements of the public, therefore it is a privacy concern for the users
and increased chances of hacking and stolen of data.
After analysing advantages as well as disadvantages of digital wellbeing, it was found
that digital technologies can improve life of people and provide them with healthy lifestyle. It
is seen that there are some distractions due to usage of this technology, while people are more
benefited using digital technologies. Due to its healthier benefits, it is used by healthcare
professionals, device manufacturers, researchers and others for describing its concept when
