Introduction
The present project management plan is on the topic the long term effects of innovative
digital workspace in transforming the workplace in more effective manner within the retail sector
of UK. The current report covers various components which are project life cycle, research
methodology, primary and secondary data, time framework, reflection and many more. The
chosen organisation for executing the investigation is ASDA. It is a British chain of supermarket
which was started in the year 1949 by Peter and Fred Asquith and Sir Noel Stockdale. The
headquarter of the supermarket is in Leeds, England and approx. the supermarket is in 633
locations.
1. Project planning
Project lifecycle (PLC) stages and its importance
Initiating
The primary stage in the project lifecycle is Initiating which helps in determining what is
to be done and achieved in the report. In the context of current report, it will have identified the
long term effects of digital workspace on Asda workplace. This stage also formulates various
objective which is attain with the assistance of the planning stage (Crawford, 2021)
Planning
This is the second level which provide direction to the researcher about the way they will
undertake the investigation. This will help the investigator to attain the various objective in
reliable manner. The objective which is achieved are to evaluate the innovative digital
technologies implemented by organization to accomplish the transformation of the workplace
and to find out the issues faced by Asda while using innovative digital technologies for handling
the level of transformation inside a company (Gramatiuk and Hartl, 2022).
Executing
The third stage is the implication stage where the planned activity of the project are put
into the action. In the context of research, the activities are carried out by dividing them into the
task and then completing each task one by one (Kerzner, 2018).
Monitoring
Document Page
The fourth stage in the PLC is monitoring level. In which the whole project is being
evaluated so that valid result can be formed and investigation can be done accurately. In the
current project activities are measured by the dates set in the Gantt chart so that it can be
identified whether the project is as per the plan or not.
Controlling
The fifth stage is controlling stage where the finding of the investigation is determine so
that if any improvement has to be made then the measurable action can be taken (Heigermoser
and et. al, 2019).
Closing
The last stage is closing stage were all the activities are carried in successful manner and
the anticipated outcome is being get buy the researcher.
Factors required while completing the project management plan
Flexible communication
One of the most vital factor while completing the overall project in effective manner is
flexible and open communication. This is because through open communication researcher can
interact with the people in greater way as well as make an effective engagement. This interaction
result in getting valuable and appropriate data for the study and carry out project in successful
manner. With flexible communication researcher can module their communication as per their
need and extract out valid information (Butler, Vijayasarathy and Roberts, 2020).
Effective planning:
Another crucial element while compiling the project is effective planning to carry the
investigation. The main purpose for this is it helps in attaining the formulate aim and objective in
valid manner as well as achieving the goal effectively. Planning of the activities also helps in
providing the direction to the idea and complete the overall project in best manner. This also
helps the researcher to outline the question which they need to get addressed. This also helps in
identifying the budget which is needed to conduct different activities as well as determining the
resources which is needed for completing the project (Bjorvatn and Wald, 2018).

2. CONDUCTING PRIMARY AND SECONDARY RESEARCH
Range of research methods and strategies and its importance
Research Philosophy:
It depicts about the way through which data must be gathered and used. Positivism and
Interpretivism are considered as two main types of research philosophy which helps in obtaining
information in effective and efficient manner. In this existing investigation, investigator lay
emphasis on choosing positivism philosophy as it provides data in numerical forms due to which
aims and objective can be achieved in significant manner (Kurten and et. al., 2022). The reason
behind selecting positivism philosophy is that it gathers scientific data in precise way.
Research Approach:
Research approach is a process of planning that includes different steps of broad
assumptions to different methods of data collection and interpretation. The two main forms of
research philosophy are deductive and inductive. In the current investigation, deductive approach
is used by the researcher for collecting the information related to the selected study (Bruce, Pope
and Stanistreet, 2018). The purpose behind choosing deductive approach is that it focuses on
providing quantitative piece of information within limited time period.
Research Choice:
Research choice are basically divided into two kinds such as qualitative and quantitative
research choice. Investigator show their dependence on selecting quantitative research choice as
it includes statistical facts and figures which is useful for this investigation. The reason behind
selecting quantitive research choice is that it contains tables and graph for representing the data
which can be easily measurable (Haig, 2018).
Research Strategy:
It contains step by step action that offers direction to investigator for collecting the data
related to the chosen study. There are various forms of research strategy such as case study,
survey, focused group and many others. Investigator show their interest in selecting survey
strategy as it gathers the data from large number of population due to which investigation can be
completed in appropriate manner (Yan and Xu, 2019). While choosing survey strategy,
researcher will focuses on framing questionnaire by including close ended questions. Thus, the
Document Page
motive behind selecting survey strategy is that it provides numerical information related to the
current study.
Data Collection:
Data collection is a procedure of collecting and measuring the data related to chosen
topic. It is classified into two different types such as primary and secondary data collection
method (Alavi and et. al., 2018). Primary data collection method helps in obtaining fresh data
whereas secondary data collection method focuses on accumulating second hand information
related to the proposed study (Jacobsen, 2021). Within this research, the investigator show their
dependence on choosing both the type of data collection method. For obtaining primary data,
questionnaire will be framed by the researcher whereas for accumulating second hand
information different sources are used by the researcher such as articles, newspapers, journals
and many others.
Sampling:
Sampling is mainly used in statistical analysis in which participants are chosen form
wider number of population. Probability and non-probability sampling are the two main types of
sampling method. In the existing research, researcher show their interest in choosing probability
sampling method as it collects data on the basis of random sampling method and also give equal
chance to each respondents to share their perspective and opinion (Park, 2020) . 30 managers of
Asda is selected on the basis of random sampling method for collecting data.
