INTRODUCTION
Dignity can be defined as that important part of human life which provides them moral
vision of their life. It can not be taken away from one's life. According to Catholic Social
Teaching every individual have his own value and respect, also he have right to be free from
slavery and exploitation (Benhabib, 2013). In this project report, it has been evaluated that how
issues regarding dignity of the human person and realization of the common good can addressed
by one's professional practice in present and future. Selfishness and discrimination are two major
issues of dignity and the common good which has been evaluated in this project report.
OPINION-EDITORIAL
Catholic Social Teaching is the study of Catholic doctrines which gives core attention to human
dignity and common good of society. Dignity of human person is major principle of Catholic
Social Taught which states that all individuals have the right to live their life with respect and
honour. Dignity work as foundation of individual of their moral vision. According to god all
individual should live their personal and professional life with dignity (Schroeder, 2012). But in
now days, in business enterprise differentiate their employees on the basis of their caste, race,
nation, religion, sex, colour and economic conditions. This type of differentiation demotivate
employees which results in less organizational profit and productivity. In present time,
government has get inspired by Catholic Social Teaching and made various rules and regulations
regarding inequality. If any employer will different their workers then he can suffer from various
financial penalties (Kateb, 2011). If organization will provide future opportunities to its all
workers then they would get motivate and contribute more in organizational success. In simple
words, if all employees of organisation would be treated equally then they will think in favour of
company and help it in accomplishing its desired results and also help it in surviving in market
place for long time period. Issued regarding dignity of human person can be addressed only in
professional life because it is only time when people get differentiated by their superiors. It is
huge responsibility of business managers to provide equal training programs to his each and very
employee so that they will improve their existing skills and lead company to high level of
success. If individual will differentiate people on the basis of their caste and region that in future
he can not become powerful and successful entrepreneur (Lo and Solomon, 2014). So, it s
highly important for person to remove this kind of behaviour and respect all individuals. Apart

form this, The common good is another most important principle of Catholic Social Taught
which states that people should consider rights and interests of others. In simple words,
individual should not become selfish because this kind of behaviour can create huge problems in
his professional life. But this kind of issue can be resolved only in professional life and with
professional practice. If a person will work under a group or team then he can learn sharing
which will help him in his life long journey. According to the common good principle, while
living in a society people should participate in social activities and live according to social rules
and regulations (Sison and Fontrodona, 2012). If anyone does not follow his or her social groups
then he or she can suffer from various personal and professional problems. By having selfish
behaviour, individual can not get higher success in his life, because selfishness makes him rude
and arrogant. People with this kind of nature can not accomplish their personal as well as
professional goals. In business level, organization should provide motivational sessions to its
employees so that they will work in a group and consider organizational goals as their personal
goals. By doing this, employer can improve behaviour of his workers and also can encourage
them to take participate in group activities. By doing this, issues regarding the common good can
be addressed at professional level (Massaro, 2015).
CONCLUSION
By evaluating this project report, it has been concluded that there are two major
principles of Catholic Social Taught which are dignity of human being and realization of the
common good. Both principle plays significant role in individual's life. But sometimes issues
related with those principles can influence positive as well as negative impact on people's
professional life. Selfishness and discrimination are the major issues of above mentioned
principles but they can be addressed by professional practices in present and future time. By
having positive mind set and providing equal opportunity to all person can remove his selfish
behaviour. Training and development program is best method in which individual can improve
himself in his professional life.
