INTRODUCTION
The report aims to analyse the business environment of the company through focusing on
internal and external factors. In the current complex business market where customers are
become demanding, technological upgradation is rising and economy is facing many
uncertainties in demand and supply, and economic growth. There are various factors which
influence on the business through which they need to make new strategies and policies to accept
the changes in the environment. This report is going to talk about the DIL Haulage company
which is a family run local business that support customers through giving best courier company.
The company was incorporated in 2013 which delivering goods from over 10 years (Brown, He,
and Lang, 2020) 2018). They are growing in the market with their expertise and responsibilities
in order to fulfil their customers demand. The report is going to conduct an internal and external
analyse to identify the issues faced by the company. This will be done thorough identifying
industry trends and market factors and related it to company’s vision and objectives. Also, there
will be a reflection which shows own skills and development in achieving employability skills.
PART 1
Internal analysis
Mission: The company mission is to deliver right product to the right customers. They
want to make the delivery to the same or next day.
Vision: The company wants to give a valuable experience through making on-time
delivery and attain long term growth in the market.
Objectives and values: The company wants to set their courier services on the top of the
list. They ants to achieve a high competitive position into market an attract large number of
customer across UK. DIL haulage work on the values of ethics and responsibility to make the
staff expert and focus on sustainability by minimising wastage.
Organisational structure: The company mainly follows a functional organisational
structure which is the most suitable for the small and medium sized firm. As per this structure,
the company dived the work as per the specialisation of the people. it segments different
departments like sales, finance, human resources and marketing (Ceriello, and et.al 2020). All
these departments work according to their roles and responsibilities in DIL Haulage. Therefore,

the company is working greatly by following functional structure which maintains a proper
hierarchy and avoid confusion.
Issues faced by the company:
In the current time after the Covid-19 pandemic, the company has faced many issues in
their operations and management. They lost their human workforce in order to deliver the goods
from one place to other (Vilchez, and de la Hiz, 2018). They face shortage of staff to carry out
the work due to which the company is not able to cover large areas of UK. It shows that, there is
requirement of highly qualified and skilled workforce to maintain company standards and ethics.
This issues causes problems in operational and functional activities of the company.

This analysis will help in identifying the industry competiveness which might impact on
the company business. All these factors in related to DIL haulage are described below:
Threat of new entrants: as per this factor, the industry of courier and logistics do have
presence in UK and European market. The industry is rapidly rising and many new players are
taking place by working in providing courier services (Dil’Muratovich, and Ivanovich, 2019).
Therefore, the DIL Haulage company has moderate threat of new players as they have existing
brand name into market.
Bargaining power of suppliers: As per this factor, the industry suppliers may impact on
the regularity of resources and supplies to the company. In the couriers and logistics industry,
there are few number of suppliers so they could bargain from the companies by making
fluctuation in prices which have high impact on the industry. Therefore, DIL haulage also has
moderate impact but they maintain great relationship and partnership with theme.
Bargaining power of buyers: The power of buyers may have the impact on the company

same services they could get in lower prices. The DIL haulage company has moderate threat of

much opportunity in this sector (Hudson Jr, 2021). With the impact of technology and E-
commerce, there are many businesses who provide courier and logistics services. Therefore, the
DIL Haulage company have high threat of competition as the company require huge investment
and market share to expand globally.

The business is required to achieve competitive strategy in order to secure competitive

Reflective practices are an effective area for every individual in order to achieve success and
own gaols. This shows that, there Is requirement of identifying own strengths and improving
factors to take necessary actions. Reflection is essential for finding mistakes and errors in own
work done and there will be chances to improve it for future practices.
Gibbs reflective model: it is the most useful model for giving description about own
experience and working in a fruitful manner. It contains 6 stages which describe each and every
element happens during an experience to analyse the mistakes, strong factors and feelings. In
relation to own practice, all these stages are described below:
Description: This stage defines a whole situation in a detail manner. It shows how the
experience look like who was involved in it and a summary of what was the outcome. In my own
practice, I have learned many things while engaging in the projects and class activities. During
that time, each and every student were asked to involve in groups and prepare projects to
showcase their skills. At this stage, I worked on the role of a leader as I enhance various skills
during my working (Santner, 2018). At first, I was not able to manage the things apply my
learning about business management in practical manner. Then I started giving time to
understand the project and divide work as per individual capabilities of my team member. There
comes a situation when we need to complete the project within 24 hours and we were left with
much work. Therefore, in order to enhance the level of our work, it require efficiency in working
on PowerPoint and excel. So, I started working on the projects by learning about ICT and
numeracy skills.
Feeling: This stage defines the feelings which has felt during the overall experience. It
shows how the overall experience will has gone, what all the thought come through the mind and
how the individual achieves positive mental stage. At the time of working for the project, I felt
nervous due to having responsibility to take decision and take responsibilities to complete the
work on time. I was quite confident as well due to having good knowledge about leadership
skills and business working. So I applied my knowledge and start giving work to other group
members. When all the individual worked well, I felt positive and happy that I was able to use

my skills in this area. This shows that my experience was well I worked hard by using my ICT
and decision making skills. Therefore, I represented myself as a team leader which has raised my

Evaluation: This stages present the positive and negative outcome from own working and
experience. This shows how the overall experience went and what has done during the whole
scenario. It has evaluated from my own experience that I have learned various skills and
knowledge in order to implement in the practice. The positive thing happened in my practice is
that the whole team has worked in coordination and I was supported them throughout the project.
Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the key areas to improve on my working which will be able
to deliver the right knowledge. The thing which I found negative in my experience Is that lack of
technical skills within the other team members (Sevilgen,and et.al 2020). I have to give training
to individual about using power pint and excel to present the statistical data. I have improved my
skills set by guiding others will be helpful for me to present myself in future job role.
Communication, time management, leadership and ICT skills were the most useful during my
experience. It was great that I learned and practice in my class session by working on case
studies. Apart from this, it has evaluated that proper coordination is important thing during any
group activity. I make sure that every individual will keep a positive behaviour and attitude
towards working.
Analysis: this stage involves the overall analysis of the experience. In my own practice and
learning various skills during my weekly activities. I have found that working on projects is must
to interact with others and know their strong and weak factors. This shows that, it is crucial to
have various skills like ICT, decision making, problem solving and Numeracy. All these skills
will help me to find a job in future and make me successful. Apart from this, I have attained
much confidence and kind behaviour toward working with others which will make me a good
leader. It analyses the situation of critical path on which I need to improve my skills in a better
manner.
Conclusion: It has concluded from own reflection that here are crucial skills which must
have in all the individuals. It shows that, there are key factors which is necessary to put focus on
which are problem solving and decision making ability. It has find that, I have some of strength
and weak areas which needs improvisation. I conclude that I have good communication and ICT
skills which helps me to guide others and complete the projects on time. It enhances the level of

this, I need to improve my decision making and problem solving skills.

The report has concluded that internal and external environment has drastic impact on the
business functioning. It shows that, there is requirement of making appropriate strategies to
overcome with market uncertainties. Therefore, it is essential to look for the existing strategy of
the company and bring new innovative solution. Also, the other part of the report has provided
reflection on the working practices and own skills.
