a) Explanation of the term inequality.?
Inequality can be considered as a phenomenon which means that there is an unjust or
unequal distribution of opportunities and resources among the members of a given section of
community. There are many types of inequality namely; inequality in opportunity, resources,
incomes, responsibilities and so on.
b) Evaluation of five areas of inequality in society and evaluation of the causes of these
while working as community services workers.
There are five areas of inequality which are explained below: Political inequality: this can be defined as a difference between the accessibility of
government resources for the members of society as there is no civic equality. The cause
of political inequality is due to diversification of gender, caste in the society. As a
community services worker I will try to either reduce or eliminate the regional disparities
which will ultimately reduce political inequality(Bouras, Ikkos and Craig, 2018). Inequality of opportunities: It means that different individuals are differentiated on the
basis of opportunities. They have been provided opportunities on the basis of their
capabilities and skills. Also, it can be considered as the cause of this inequality because

every members of society have different capabilities but as a worker of community
service I will try to reduce this by introducing skills development programs for the
society. Gender Inequality: This can be defined as the difference among the section of society on
the basis of gender as the society is having perception that females are not that much
capable then male members of society. The cause of this inequality can considered as the
stereotype perception of society. As a community service worker this can be changed by
introducing program that will create awareness about this topic. Income inequality: This means that the members of the society are being discriminated
on the basis of their level of income they earn. The cause of this can be considered as
unequal distribution of opportunities among the members. Wage Inequality: This can be defined as the inequality on the basis of wages which can
be seen in many big organisations. This is because they attempt to exploit the workers by
providing them excessive workload.
Question 1.3
Description of impact of homelessness on an individual and their family.?
Homelessness can be defined as a condition when the individual live in a shelter which is
lacking the minimum standards. This can be considered as an temporary hoe for the individuals
and their families. It involves living on streets, moving to friend's home and so on. The impact of
homelessness involves enhancement in insecurity of the families as they are living in temporary
shelter which can be removed at any time. Also, there in an increase in the instability for the
families. This will impact their education and well being (Colistra, Schmalz and Glover, 2017).
In addition to this there is an risk on their health status as they are living in the areas which are
being surrounded by disease and they are not undertaking proper nutrition can be considered as
another cause.

a) What is the meaning of long term unemployed in Australian context.?
Long term unemployed can be defied as a state in which an individual remain
unemployed for more than 12 months. Then they will be considered under the category of long
term unemployed inn Australian context.

b) Identification of the reason for an increase in the number of people in long term
unemployment.?
The reason for unemployment can be considered as increase in interest rates, financial
crisis and global recessions. The global recession will force the employer to cut down their cost
by terminating the employees. With this if the company is facing financial crisis then they will
adopt the strategy of retaining the effective employees who can perform multitasking.
c) Identify and explain some of the impacts that long-term unemployment can have on the
individual, their family and society as a whole.?
The unemployment situation can impact the financial situation of an individual which
will creates difficulties for survival of the individual and their families. Also with this the
individual may undergo a situation of depression or demotivation which can affect their family
life. Unemployed also leads to an decrease in purchasing power of consumer. This situation also
impacts the health and morality of the family of unemployed individual (Delgado-Aguilar,
Konold and Schmitt, 2017).
Question 1.5
a) In your own words, comment on the cost of ageing in Australia. In the case of older
people within Australian society.
The cost of ageing can be defined as the cost and expenses of the old age people which is
estimated in Australia to be $7439 in 2015 to $9594 in 2035. there can be an increase in the
expenditure from $166 billion to $320 billion.
b) Identify two perceptions (stereotypes) of this age group within society.
Old age people have an stereotype perception of judging an individual by its clothes and
dressing. Due to which they will be considered as unmodernised persons. Another perception is
that they diversify individuals on the basis of religion and caste system (Evans, Atkinson and
Porteus, 2017).
c) Identify two ways that older people can be disadvantaged.
Older people have a disadvantage of poverty as compare to employed youth due to which
sometimes they face the situation of poverty. The another drawbacks is that the old age people
became lonely when they enter in this age group.

d) Identify positive ways that older people can contribute to society.
Older people can share their wisdom and past learning experiences to youth people which
will enhance their knowledge. Also, old people can mentor and guide young people towards
achieving success in their career path.

In your own words, explain the main points of the following political and economic
theories:
a) Economic Liberalism
Economic liberalism involves personal property and liberty with limited government
interventions. It provides a strong support to the private property and market economy in context
of means of production (Flood, 2017). Also this theory oppose government interventions
regarding the rules for free trade in the economy.
b) Social Market Model
Social market model is also known as socio-economic mode. It combines free market
capitalist economic system with the social policies in order to ensure fair competition within the
market area. This will help supporting the economy with organic means of production.
c) Socialism
Socialism can be defined as an economic, social and political philosophy which combines
the social and economic system which is provided by democratic control of means of production.
It have two forms namely; market and non market.

beliefs are developed under the influence of parents or grandparents. The thinking of an
individual goes in the direction which is bing directed by their parents. The individual develops
their beliefs when they see and judge the behaviour of the people in their surroundings or the

society. Also, the individuals is influenced by the teachers, peer groups and the media
technology.
d) Discuss how social class and stereotypes impact on society.
Social class and stereotypes impacts the society by encouraging inequality in many ways. Also,
this will introduce discrimination in the society (Jones, Hannigan and Simpson, 2018). Due to
which the society will be divided on the basis of numerous factors. Also, the individuals of the
society will not be able to work in a team which will influence their workings and will restrict
their overall growth. In addition to this the stereotype and social class will effect the educational
institutions in an negative way.

Identify and explain a policy that impacts on Community Work.
Children and young people commitment is an act being introduced by the government for
promoting the rights of the people in the society. This act will impact the community work in a
positive way by introducing certain rules and regulations. It explains that the young children
must have access of education, proper healthcare, safety and security and so on. This will help
the community services in their workings by establishing a strong bond between the children of
various groups of society.

In this task, an individual can easily get knowledge and information about social and
cultural issues that impact on person. It is very important for every one that how these issues get
influence a person. This report have emphasised on the services provided by American red cross
society. This organisation is an aid for the humanitarian, helps the disable peoples and the old
aged peoples of the society. It is the organisation who always taking care of humanitarian that
still live on earth. With this, it provides a range of services which involves blood donation,
community services, migration support and so on. In simple terms they provide emergencies
services to those person who actually need. The clients groups include the clients that avails the
emergency services namely disaster relief (Liebenberg and Hutt-Macleod, 2017). The clients
expects from the organisation to guide in handling the situations of disaster effectively. Other
than that the organisation offers community volunteering and retail and customer services. These
services includes that the company organises workshops in order to train the clients about how to

face a disastrous situation safely and safeguard their family members also. The demographics of
the group that have been selected as clients in this research is the young people.
It is analysed that client face many social and cultural issue that impact on their life.
Organisation need to find out their clients so that they can provide some relief to those persons.
Some cultural and social issue are ageing population, pollution, inflation, mental health, etc.
These issues give a great impact on client's life. It can be analysed with examples such as a
person who belongs to middle class family faces a very critical situation because of inflation.
They has lack of money that require for their family's survival. But due to increasing in inflation,
it is analysed that he faces a problem of continuous rise in prices of products and services.
The scenario can be described as when the youth face an disaster they try to create haste
by going here and there. But in this situation the organisation guides the individuals to keep calm
and take each step by thinking twice before. For this there are some of the social and cultural
issues which are being affected by the clients. This includes that the clients can be diversified on
the basis of their age which is between 18 to 30 years. Also, on the basis of their educational
background as if someone have undertaken a degree of disaster management then they can
understand the importance of situation easily and effectively. On the other hand if someone is not
from the background of this situation then it might be difficult for the company to train them fast.
The issues faced by the clients is the inequality and discrimination among the society. With this
they also face the stereotype thinking of the society.
The priority of this organisation is they always attempt to strengthen the national
emergency preparedness which will help their clients in being prepared for the emergency
situations. With this the organisation provides services for the enhancement of international
development which will help them in ensuring growth of the nation. Also, the organisation try to
provide enough blood products to the hospitals when they raise requirement of that products at
the time of emergency. The organisation also performs a duty of encouraging the communities to
work together for their own personal development (Lorek, Dattilo and Chen, 2017).
This will help the community services in serving their clients effectively. With this the

prospects. Also, with this the company have initiated many community services programmes
which have generated awareness about the situation of these people. The age group which have
been selected as the clients group will also motivate other section of society towards becoming
an helping hand in the community service work. It is necessary to enhance the scope of
community services which will transform the nation into a team that will live healthier and
happy lives. Also, the organisation aims at recruiting the employees that will create awarenesses
about the peoples. In addition with this the organisation works for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander which will helps them in becoming an effective part of the society. This will help them
securing their cultural beliefs and the ancestral perceptions. Also, the priorities of the
organisation is set towards the development of the nation and the community groups. For this
they ensure that the individuals take interest in their services as this will help both the parties.
This will also help the future generations in achieving their pathways (Markantoni, Steiner and
Farmer, 2018).

This report focuses on the disaster relief services provided by American red cross
organisation. This company works for the charitable purposes in order to ensure the development
of the communities of nation. The insufficient knowledge about the terms and conditions
associated with the disaster relief services can restrict the scope of the clients to avail the same in
an effective manner. In order to access disaster relief services it is important for the clients to
gain maximum insight about the same in order to capitalise on the concerned service provided by
the organisation at the time of requirement. The complexity and difficulty in relation with the
acquisition of the disaster relief services also acts as a barrier to the client as it requires the
investment of a lot of time and effort for them to avail the same.
The disaster relief service should be less complex and time consuming in the nature so as
to make it easy and simple for the clients to leverage from the same(Youens and Moorin, 2017).
The company can also add new features and specification to the service in order to make it more
effective and reliable for the clients. The barriers of the service can be improved by conducting

an introspection regarding the issues and concerns prevailing in the services so as to correct and
modify the service for its betterment. Feedback from the clients can also be taken into
consideration so as to know the areas of the service which needs to requirement for change
(Owen, 2018).
Also, the organisation aims at providing emergency services which will help them in
handling the situations of natural calamities and disaster management effectively. The issues
faced by the clients are common among the various members of the societies which will become
easier for them to achieve foster growth prospects. This have ensured that the organisation is
completely focused towards the welfare of the community groups of the society. Also, the
stereotype beliefs of the clients affect the society and their development prospects gets restricted.
With this they are unable to think ahead. The cultural issues involve the harassment from at the
workplace and the inequality issues is common. The inequality is on the basis of race,gender,
caste and religion and so on. Also the organisation aims at building and developing a community
group that will target the social issues of the society. The social issues are targeting the beliefs of
the society members. Also, with this they are unable to eliminate these issues from the society as
they have targeted the roots of the society. Lastly it involves the members which will work
voluntarily for the attainment of the goals of the organisation. The clients will have to understand
the organisation is working for their welfare. The organisation also address humanitarian laws
which will be focused while performing operations in the external environment.
Organisation need to make sure that their clients feel free to contact for accepting their
services. Because if they did not do that then they are fail to provide services. It is analysed that
clients face many barriers while appealing for services. This thing should be at first priority of
organisations so that they can perform their services in a better way. It is responsibility of
organisation that they make sure about removing all barriers of clients that they are face.
Organisation provide disaster relief services that is very effective when community face natural
disaster. There are many persons who wants relief funds and essential things which become
necessary at that situation. They face problems like appealing for relief funds, sometimes it is
analysed that they are not getting right things which are needed at that situation. In previous
cases, it is found that suffered persons are not receiving relief because of mediators. Sometimes
relief providers have a lack of knowledge of needy person which require actually services. It is
very important for American red cross that they resolve these things so that actual needy persons
