Student- Good morning Mam
Supervisor- Good morning. Is there anything I can help you with.
Student- Yes mam there is one problem that I need your help with.
Supervisor- Ok tell me what is the problem you are having.
Student- Mam I was completing the professional assessment template so I needed your feedback
on that.
Supervisor- Show me the template you have created.
Student- The template is not currently with me but I can tell you the ratings I have given myself
on different criteria.
Supervisor- Yes tell me then I will give you my feedback.
Student- The first criteria was ‘Carrying out legal research’ in which I have rated myself as
medium as I think that although mostly I do not have any problem in researching about the
statutes, court decisions and other legal articles and writings the problems I face are at the time
of carrying out the general background checks on the witnesses. This is one area I need to work
on.

Supervisor- I agree with your rating and I believe that you have analyzed your problem well. I
would be discussing about this problem in detail with you the next time. I will also tell you
measures you can take for overcoming the problem.
Student- Thank you, mam. The next criteria was ‘drafting legal documents’ and in this I have
rated myself as low. I think that I can improve a lot on drafting in general. Although I have a idea
of how to draft legal documents but in practice there are a lot of areas that I can be improving.
Supervisor- As I have seen the documents drafted by you I think that this rating is also correct.
You have a lot of improvement to do in regard to properly drafting a legal document.
Student- The third criteria was the ‘preparing for court cases’ in which I have rated myself as
medium because as I am new there are many responsibilities I have yet not taken, like an open
dialog with attorneys to help in successfully completing a legal case.
Supervisor- I think you are doing a steady progress in this area. I hope that with experience you
would become better at this task. However for now I think your rating is right.
Student- The fourth criteria was ‘investigating and fact-checking’. I have rated a high as I think I
have done a good work in the area till now.
Supervisor- Although I agree that you have been doing a good progress yet there is a lot of scope
for improvement.
Student- The fifth criteria to be marked was ‘interviewing witnesses’ in which I have marked
myself as medium. Because I think that I am not fully capable of the character-based assessment
of a witness.
Supervisor- That too would be achieved with experience.

Student- In the final criteria ‘undertaking general administrative duties’ I have given a high
rating. Because I am new so most of the works I am given are administrative duties so I think I
have a good knowledge of the task as of now.
Supervisor- I think you have done a good job of self-assessment and I hope that you would be
working on improving the areas of weakness.
Student- I will definitely work on improvement. Thank you so much for taking out your time for
