Introduction
People with disabilities are majorly those who cannot function effectively maybe because of
physical impairment, mental illness, cognitive impairment and other various types of diseases.
These kinds of people are found across the world e.g. Canada and America which can be used as
example.
a. Do they need help?
Yes, they need help. This helps include support, education, health services and employment.
The individuals with disabilities in America are helped by being offered education rights and
employment to improve their lives and become more independent (Prince, 2009). There are
institutions that have organized programs that support their access to transportation, health care
and housing while in Canada the disabled individuals who are employed are given Canada
Pension Plan Disability and Workers compensation as sources of their income support.
b. How are they treated?
In America, the disabled individuals are offered quality education at all levels. They are also
protected against discrimination in terms of health services, employment opportunities and not
forgetting protection against discrimination on training, promotions and also on equal payment.
In Canada the disabled individuals are obliged to be equally treated in terms of race, sex, age or
even ethnic groups.

c. Criminals/ high and low risks.
People with disabilities are at high risk because children or adults with disability are more
likely to be victims of rape compared to normal children. People with disability in justice system
face important problems in getting a counsel to stand for the cases (Stanilard, 2010). The
disabled may not be able to understand their rights because they are easily influenced and might
want to please others.
d. Pros and corns.
The limitations disabled people faces includes ; the problems they face when they become
victims of rape since they may not get a lawyer to advocate for them hence this limits their rights
, being disable can have a drastic impact on one’s life as 0ne of the major issues they face is that
they can no longer be able to work. This leaves many disabled people in dire state. The pros
includes; people suffering from disability can apply for social security disability insurance which
have the following advantages, they can receive monthly payments, they can also receive
Medicare which does not change for a long time.
