Introduction
The preparation for the emergency healthcare situation is one of the key nursing care ethics for
nurses. Being a nursing care professional, I need to be ready to provide effective care plans for
emergency patients. Emergency preparedness is the key notion for the nurses. Thus, the study the
healthcare strategies for nurses to provide quality care to patients suffering from an accident. As
defined in the scenario, a car was driven into a crowded shopping mall and caused accidents of
many. The disaster response team rushed to the spot to manage the severity of the situation. I
will analyze the effectiveness of situational management in response to the situation.
Additionally, my focus will be on the effectiveness of the nursing care plan for the betterment of
accident affected ailing. The disaster management’s strategy for healthcare professionals will be
analyzed by me in the study to evaluate future prevention techniques. I will summarize the whole
discussion in the concluding part and will provide and will outline an appropriate
recommendation to develop the care plan for disaster management.
Analysis
Situational management
The basic need of the nursing care professionals is to provide quality to care to each patient
irrespective of the situation. Nursing ethics defines the ethical perspectives of a nurse in an
emergency situation (Jiménez-Herrera & Axelsson, 2014). A car rushed to a shopping mall and
caused a severe accident. I would have taken four steps to provide quality care to the patients
I would rush to the spot along with my co healthcare professionals and provide first aid to
the people affected by this accident who are rescued by the disaster response team. The
first aid would include providing painkiller and bandage.
Being nursing care staff, I would provide a careful dressing to the people with a fractured
body part.
I would have referred the seriously injure ailing to the local healthcare organization for
emergency treatment and surgery (if necessary).

After that, I would have started taking care of the people who are traumatized due to a
sudden accident. I would take them to a secured spot and provide mental assistance to
them for effective trauma care. The mental guidance is an effective technique for trauma
care (Anderson, Farmer & Galante, 2018).
Nursing plan
The nursing care plans define the ethical duties of a nursing care professional. Being a nursing
care staff, I need to provide quality care to the ailing affected by the mass casualty. Health
professionals play a pivotal role in this kind of scenario to control the situation in an effective
way. The situation is very much chaotic. Individuals have suffered serious physical injuries and
mental trauma due to the accident (McHugh, Krinsky & Sharma, 2018). Being a nursing care
professional, I quickly observed and made a situational analysis of the condition. After the
accidents, the rescue team arrived at the place of the accident. I think the first job is to rescue and
segregate the severely injured people and take them to a safe place. I helped the rescue team to
rescue the persons from the accident spot and relocating them to a safer location. After that, the
next step in the plan of the health professional is to calm the patient down from the traumatic
condition. I think the next most essential step in the plan is to treat the physical injuries of the
patient and implement effective first aid and nursing care. I helped the health professional in
delivering primary treatment to the affected victims. The wounded place ware washed efficiently
and plastering was performed (Makombe, 2017). I would have provided them with some painkiller
for initial relief.

Disaster management strategy
Fig 1, Source: Google
The strategy for disaster management in the healthcare setting is developed to unfold the moral
duties of nurses during the emergency situation. The strategy comprises of four stages those are
mentioned below:
Preparation: The preparation stage denotes the preparation necessary for disaster management.
As health professionals need to take the first aid kits and other equipment to be prepared to
manage any kind of injuries in an efficient manner (Rheem, Choi, Kwak & Oh, 2016)
. This is the most vital stage proper risk assessment should be done in this stage. Prediction of
casualties is done in this stage.
Response: The response stage emphasizes the implementation of the rescue is done according to
the type of disaster. The response should synchronize with the preparatory stage (Nogami, 2018)
.

Restoration: The restoration stage focuses on the primary first aid treatment of the victims, the
restoration part comprises of the safe transfer of the patient to nursing home care settings
(Nogami, 2018).
Mitigation: This includes the mitigation of risks from the lessons that are learners from disaster
management activities. It comprises the follow-up activity (Rheem, Choi, Kwak & Oh, 2016).
Conclusion
The study has depicted the related mitigation plan needed to mitigate the situation. The study
comprises of situational analysis, nursing care plan and implementation of nursing care to save
the victims from severe physical injuries and mental trauma. A disaster management strategy in
the form a disaster management plan is depicted in the study. I think the emergency rescue team
should work on communication and coordination to make holistic development to implement
effective care measure.
