The two article, “Call and response-Taking a standby Bell Hooks” and “Taking a stand
against bullying” are two different article. Although both the articles are different they discuss
the same aspects of discrimination. The articles have similarities as well as differences which
will be analysed as d,s which ias tthe primary aim of the essay. Since the articles have
similarities and differences, the analysis is conducted on the basis on it.
The article “call and response-Taking a stand” is written based on the author’s Silas
House’s speech on racism that occurs in the Appalachian regions. The article has been written
considering the Appalachian region. The author calls people to take a stand on racism and the
injustice that is caused by them. Several social problems in Kentucky including oppression,
diversity and discrimination are discussed in the article (Hooks, 2014). The speech is to make the
society better at becoming socially inclusive. It mentions racial integration, prejudices, unity and
makes a move towards a culture that is fair to everyone. Another article, “Taking a stand against
bullying” is based on teen bullying. In this article, the number of teens committing suicide every
year due to various reasons is discussed and the way a group of young artists tries to make a
change through their world tour (InMotion, 2014). The article indirectly holds the
discriminations existing in the society as the causes of these suicides. The article mainly
discusses the teen nation tours.
