I believe that under this respective part as per the given statements made by Schilling
regarding the creation of porters five force models, the key objective is to evaluate and analyze
whether there is a desirable and appropriate industry under which the organization will be able to
compete. It is understandable that Schilling has derived a clear statement regarding the creation
of porters five force model for a particular purpose where the model generally proved to be more
suitable on other different segment.
The model was designed and developed in order to understand the factors of
effectiveness associated with a particular industry but the model under the current operation
generally gives more emphasis on certain unique and specific factors which can be easily applied
and implemented within a specific firm. The key emphasis is to give more importance on the
firm’s external factors and evaluate what is their current position bringing a contrast to the firm’s
external environment.
Core competencies
Under this respective part the company selected by me is Apple, as compared to the
factors that are associated with the system of core competencies within the internal environment
of the organization in the market are considered to be expertise or assets which are generally
rare, that can be difficult under the area of imitating, those are considered to be more valuable
and unique for the customers (Gerardi, 2016). Some of the major core competency factors
associated with the respective company apple is mentioned below.

and research in order to give their product a unique and distinct approach compared to
their competitors.
Simple usage and attractive design are considered to be the key major feature of apple
which attracts the customers more towards the brand (Heracleous & Papachroni, 2016).
Apple uses latest mode of technology in their in order to remain more innovative and
advanced in their operations.
They have the clear idea regarding the time and actual market where they require
implementing marketing strategy to remain more sustainable and competitive.
Quantitative and qualitative method
One of the major quantitative methods selected under this respective part is associated
with the method related to the system of discounted cash flow. It is considered to be a kind of
valuation method which is applied under the area of estimating the investment value based on
upcoming cash flows in the future. Using a particular discount rate analysis associated with DCF
system helps under the area of finding the current value of expected upcoming cash flows.
Compare to a particular project, this helps under the part of evaluating whether the
respective project will be successful in the future. The key problem associated with this can be
that the results are completely based on the actual estimates and on the other hand giving more
emphasis only on the figures can hinder the effectiveness of the project which can lead to higher
failure in the future.
As compared to the qualitative methods, these generally play an advanced and favorable
role in the part of generating projects. This offers a particular platform where the people can

numbers. Screening questions may allow people under the area of considering a market which
not even exist in reality but, under this respective part we will able to explore a new potential
market which is a positive part on all terms.

Under the respective post 1, the peer has strongly conducted a clear evaluation regarding
the affect of porters five force model between the external environment of both firm and
industry. The information given by the peer is in a precise and understandable manner where the
research conducted is accurate under all terms. In the second part, the organizational
competencies could have been made briefer and research oriented where this area lacks the
research conduct. Qualitative and quantitative method associated with technique of analyzing
and capital rationing new project by a firm is clearly identified and is presented with suitable
examples which is the considered to be the best part of the respective study conducted.

In this respective post, the peer has explained certain factors associated with the system
of porter’s five model forces and their impact in both firm and industry, where the comparison
made is completely unclear. The core effect of Porters five force model under the effectiveness
of the external environment of the industry and firm is not made as per the expectations. The
organization selected under the second section is not supported with suitable examples where
some segments of the theory contains wide range of information. In the third part, methods are
explained with clear definition and are supported with suitable examples by the peer.
