The most feasible power types that are generally demonstrated in the modern day
includes the likes of persuasive power, legitimate based power, situational based power as
well as information based power.
Use of the Power
The different powers used by a project manager can be used in the most efficient
manner to ensure the success of the organization properly (Madsen, 2019). The legitimate
and persuasive power of the project manager can help them to improve the performance of
the team by providing performance appraisals, incentives and also by convincing the
members to gain the goals of the team.
Benefits Gained
The use of the above mentioned powers by the project manager can help to improve
the performance of the team, make the team members motivated, gain a control of the team
and lead the team towards ultimate success.
Difference between Influence and Manipulation
Influence is the power to change or affect any particular situation without directly
playing a role in the process (Sanchez & Terlizzi, 2017). On the other hand manipulation can
be said to be the exertion of shrewd and negative influence to create a personal advantage.
