According to FFPS Module 6, students have much more religious freedom in public schools
than teachers do. What are some of those freedoms and how can teachers help protect
them rather than violate them?
When it comes to religious freedom of students and teachers in public school, I
completely agree with my peer. Students can freely discuss about their religious practices in
schools with both their friends as well as educators. However, when it comes to teacher, the
freedom to discuss about their religious beliefs and thoughts is highly limited. As per my belief,
one of the chief reasons behind lack of freedom is that teachers need to maintain an image. Not
only this, since public schools is comprised of students from different cultural and religious
backgrounds, expressing religious views may impose adverse affect on the emotions of the
students. I, in my personal experience have seen several incidents where a conflict between the
religious beliefs of the students as well as teacher has arisen due to openly discussing religious
view.
When it comes to religious liberty discussed by my peers, as per my opinion, apart
organizing a bible class where things like Roman Catholic Church and its impact on the society
will be discussed, the teachers can encourage students to speak about their take or their point of
views associated with their religion. As per my opinion, I will be easier for the teacher to
understand hic point of view can be shared with students and which should not be, once the view
point of the students are understood.

mentioned article. Considering the fact that in her writing, Dr. Ellen Blacks has focused on the
requirement of the children to able to reach to god’s word, the point has been highlighted in the
post. Priority has also been provided to the home school movement. My peer has focused on how
John Holt as well as Raymond Moore became strong supporters of the home schooling. Like my
peer I also think that that our education system is declining at an alarming rate due to the lack
God in our school system. I also aspire to be an effective Christian teacher who will be able to
develop our educational system to a great extent.
