1DISCUSSION OF TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP
Introduction
The essay is going to discuss a theoretical model of transformational leadership and
its specifications with the goal of achieving a chance to attain further degree on international
affairs. It would be one of my proudest accomplishments if I can enrol myself for a master’s
degree and achieve the opportunity to learn the subject. Although, I do not possess a wealthy
family background my urge of learning new perspectives never fades. Maintaining a
professional life to support a family and seeking for further knowledge simultaneously is
difficult yet not impossible. Therefore, the objective of writing this essay is to convey the
interest of mine towards further knowledge, the reasons behind choosing the particular stream
and views on my capability of attaining the degree and the way I would like to work for the
society being professional afterwards.
Discussion
Leadership has been found as a prominent human trait since the early days of
civilization. Human society demands to be led in a direction with wise decisions and
coordination (Foley, 2013). Since the days of my schools, I had been participating in group
discussions and debate competitions where I used to perform well and managed to express
my ideas and views in front of audiences. I never stepped back while establishing my point of
argument and have always been helpful to those who are facing issues within my institution.
After completing secondary education, I developed a fine interest in political science as I
found myself as a successful project leader during my school days and my political
conceptions started to grow by reading books of influential leaders of my country. I chose the
subject as my major out of my immense interest in American politics though it was a late
realization that the subject carries versatile concentration to focus. Before joining the

bachelor’s course, I enrolled myself for a crash course on American politics and political
thought. After perusing years on my bachelor’s; I have realised a keen interest within myself
for further learning and decided not to hurry for being professional right after that. However,
my adulthood went by supporting my family because the financial condition did not
cooperate me to fulfil my wish of attaining a Grad school degree. Afterwards, I engaged
myself as a tutor in an institution, which provides grooming classes for children who are not
performing well in their studies and have a low self-esteem (Archambault & Garon, 2013).
The role as an instructor was enjoyable and I learnt how leadership could help little souls to
understand their potential. Since I started my part-time job as a grooming instructor, which
has nothing to do with politics yet while instructing them I realised being autocratic was not
the appropriate way with objectives of creating something different for betterment. Instead of
that believing in transformational leadership would be the perfect idea in order to bring a
positive change. With a goal of understanding the application and experience of
transformational leadership, it is essential to know that how the process was operated based
on the theoretical model of the same (Shields, 2014). I used to lead a team there to identify
the requirements of those students and my job was to motivate them towards their better
performance in studies and make them realise their worth as an individual who is capable of
bringing a change in their way of living and learning. That was the first thing I learnt about
leadership (Buhari et al., 2014) during my first job.
Later, I used to work in flexible hours and managed time to engage myself in critical
courses, which had immense potential to deliver knowledge that I am seeking for improving
my perspectives. I came across with several professors with refined knowledge in my areas of
interest. My aim was to enrich myself with new perspectives on political field of America and
I would always like to ask my professors what could I read or practice in order to make my
work strong. I released a paper in collaboration with my team members, which was published

in one of the popular political journals of America. Professors not only guided me towards
attaining a greater perspective on political field but also a realisation came what I am capable
of doing and my success lies on the application of my studies. Although, the subject offers
versatile concentrations to choose from yet I have decided to learn international affairs in
master’s level because I realised there is a vast unexplored area of politics, which deals with
international policies and connection and how it influences the diplomatic decisions of the
political leaders. As my bachelor course was America centric, I felt necessary needs to learn
about the relationship between America and foreign countries. Therefore, it would be
remarkable if I receive the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree to complete my sense of
politics and diplomacy.
It would be cliché, if I state that as a student, I have always been interested to pursue
Graduate school. The interest grew gradually with time as I started to enjoy what I was
learning. During my bachelor’s I discovered an entire world of new possibilities, which
helped me to perform better academically. This paper is not enough to describe the
significance of study; it leads an individual from being ordinary to a phenomenal leader. The
experiences of the courses and internships taught me that I have a flair for organisation and
the ability to resolve issues within that. I am still pursuing a part time job where I am leading
a group of members to develop a website for students who are seeking for assistance while
learning political aspects of the country (Sayles, 2017). My designation as managerial figure
who possess an authoritarian responsibility (Verba, 2015) both in a classroom setting and in
this organisation has developed a desire within me to accept teaching as a profession. As I
enjoy the excitement of learning and sharing my views, it would be a wise choice to assist the
students to achieve their academic excellence (Oleson & Hora, 2014). I wish to enrol myself
as a participant of the distance-learning programme considering my regular job schedule
(Harry, John & Keegan, 2013). A continuous flow of money is important to pursue my

Though I am not going to receive an excellent classroom experience still I expect the era of
globalization and technological advancement will enable me to learn as much as a regular

background and dedication will support me to fulfil my desire in the midst of such a
competitive environment. Again, the concept of transformational leader revolves around
while choosing a career path (Hewitt, Davis & Lashley, 2014) if not in a political atmosphere
yet I would like to serve the society by leading them towards attaining a better future.
Conclusion
It is a fact that being a member of not so wealthy family, surviving in the competitive
atmosphere of USA is difficult. However, with a positive energy and urge to study further
can lead any individual who wants to make a transformation in their lifestyle. I have gathered
much inspiration from my professors and developed a desire to be a teacher in order to make
social changes. Teachers and parents are the ultimate transformational leaders who help to
shape the mentality of future generation. I believe, learning political aspects of the country
has given me the concepts yet to have greater perspective in this field international affairs
would be a wise choice to continue my studies further. Considering the trait of mediation,
leadership and a strong educational background, I assume that graduate school degree will
