University Dissertation: RLC Supply Chain Quality Management Analysis

This dissertation presents a comparative analysis of quality management practices, focusing on the British Army's Royal Logistics Corps (RLC) supply chain and Tesco PLC. The research investigates whether the RLC's supply chain quality management is 'fit for purpose' by evaluating its practices against commercial standards, particularly those of Tesco. The study employs a mixed-method research design, including both quantitative and qualitative data collection from employees and managers of both organizations. The findings highlight significant differences in supply chain operations between Tesco and the RLC, with Tesco demonstrating a greater orientation towards competitive advantage. The research identifies shortcomings in the RLC's practices and concludes that the RLC is not utilizing best practices in the industry. The dissertation provides detailed analysis, results, and recommendations for improvements in the RLC's supply chain quality management, offering insights into potential areas for enhancement and future research.
