Introduction
The below-made report is created and based on the topic named Distance Meter. The entire
report is based on this topic and is explained properly in the report. The report explains about
an organization which focusses on measuring the mountains as well as lands and other things
etc. The proper measurement such as height, length as well as the width is to be done.
Similar to the management project, engineering project also focusses on proper planning.
Various steps including a list of the requirements, proper planning, designing of the project,
implementation of the project and at last testing before delivering are to be followed. Along
with the planning and the plotting of the project, advantages, as well as the disadvantages, are
also mentioned in the report. The logbook is also provided along with the report in order to
facilitate the users to see the proper schedules. The functioning of the project is properly
shown in the report. The aim that would be fulfilled using this project is helping the user to
move to any place and make the measurements. Powerpoint Presentation is also created along
with the report for showing the detailed information regarding the project.

The project title that is selected by me is Distance Meter. The construction company can
fulfill their different requirements by using this project as it would really be helpful for the
company or the organization to get the proper measurements of the distance of Mountains,
hills or the valleys, etc. A single device is required in order to get the proper measurements.
The reason behind selecting this project is that it helps in providing the proper distance or the
accurate distance of the mountains or large areas. A lot of small devices are included in this
project that helps in easy handling and also makes accurate measurements of the distance
(Jang et al., 2018). Also an LCD screen is being used that would help in getting the accurate
data or the distance with some seconds. Also, an extra option is provided in order to change
the unit of the measurement as the distance could be measured in different units as well. As
the device is used for this project is portable and could easily be used anywhere along with
the portability feature it is also easy to handle. Along with the features of using it, the feature
of inexpensive is also an important thing as an only one-time investment is required here and
there is very less amount of maintenance charges. The work is done in various different parts
as a lot of different steps are performed before the launching of the device. Proper work is
done and later on, when the device is needed to be launched, final testing is done in order to
check the functionality of the device (Martinez-Agirre et al., 2016).
A lot of different sensors are also used in order to get the proper functioning of the device.
Different sensors that are included work accordingly and play their role respectively. Also,
the use of the Liquid Crystal Display could also be seen in the report as it helps in showing
the various ranges of the distance and also helps in converting the units of the measurement
of the distance (Braun, J., Štroner, M., and Urban, R., 2015).
For getting the device ready properly, a lot of efforts have been made to make it as a
successful device. The project is selected because it gives the wide range of the measurement
of the distance and also the accurate distance is extracted out in a proper manner. Various
different sensors that are used plays an equally important role and helps in providing the final
output.

SDLC is also expressed as the Software Development Life Cycle helps in developing the
project that would provide us with various that have to be followed and the development of
the project gets smooth. SDLC is used to extract out the best project out of the selected
proposal and helps in developing the best project out of it. This is considered to be the
universal project creation process that contains fixed steps on which the entire process occur
and the entire project finally gets created. There are seven different phases in which the entire
system depends and gives out the best possible solution. Proper planning, list of the
requirements, best designing and many different phases are explained below in detail to
provide a better understanding:
Requirements: The first and the most important part of the SDLC i.e. Software
Development Life Cycle is the Requirement phase. For accomplishing any of the projects or
to fulfill any of the plans, the first major thing is the Requirements list. The need is not just of
the resources but also the basic knowledge about the project and the plan is must and is
definitely required. According to the project, various particular requirements are needed to
fulfill. The requirement of the resources, budget and all different things are needed to be
fulfilled at the first stage or the first phase. So, all other requirements along with the cost are
the main thing to be focussed upon in the first phase.
Planning: After the requirements get fulfilled, the next and the most important part is
Planning. Planning is considered as the phase where the entire project is discussed and all the
requirements are checked (Alshamrani, A. and Bahattab, A., 2015). This is the phase that
decides the further work to be done in a proper and appropriate way. Managers along with the
team members or the people associated with the project get involved in this phase to create
the proper plan. Proper teams are created in this phase and resources are allocated according
to the plan. This is considered as the main part of the SDLC as this decides the fortune of the
project.
Designing: After the previous two phases, this phase is also really very important. This phase
is also considered to be so important as proper designing of the project occur here. Designing
is mainly done based on the requirements of the clients and it keeps on changing according to
the requirements. This mainly helps in creating the prototype of the project and after the

confirmation from the client is achieved, the further implementation is done in the next phase
of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Implementation: After the design gets finalized by the client, the design is needed to be
implemented and the project is needed to be created and that is to be done in this phase called
as Implementation of the Project (Aljawarneh et al., 2017). All the resources allocated or
provided during the planning phase are being used in this phase for the implementation.
Different teams are also allocated in this phase.
Testing: After the work gets completed, testing is also considered to be a really important
phase. The implementation phase created the design according to the requirements of the
client but before delivering the project to the client, it is very important to test the working of
the project. Testing undergoes various tests and if all the tests get cleared, the project
successfully gets submitted to the client.
Maintenance: The next important phase to be considered is the Maintenance Phase. The
project after getting tested properly is delivered to the client for the evaluation process but if
any updates are needed to be made then it all comes under the Maintenance phase.
Maintenance could cause both high and low cost, if the software is needed to be updated then
it could be affordable for the organization or the company to do it.
Deployment: The last and one of the most important phases is the deployment phase where
the project gets launched and is ready to be delivered to the client. This phase occurs after the
completion of all the above-mentioned phases. This is the phase which helps in delivering the
project to the client and proper launching of the project is done here.
