Introduction
For any kind of business you need to have the proper and the vast knowledge about the firm
and also the organisation, so its same for the E-Commerce business. In the assessment there
is the University name the DMU which provides the distance learning program. Its main
objective is to provide the distance learn8ing at international level. To achieve it part the
organisation has to focus on the SOWT analysis which consist of the Strength, weakness,
opportunities and threat. In the following report the SWOT analysis is discussed in detail so
this would help the person to work and run the business in very effective manner.

Part No.1
Cross-border Education
By the word cross-border is understood that it’s something crossing the border of the nation
and provides the facility over the world for the educational activates only. The student may
not go on other countries or nation due to many reasons so keeping this in mind d the DMU
wants to provide the distance learning program so the student who are interested in pursuing
the higher education will be able to continue the studies by siting at their place only. Cross-
border also believe in the globalization that means there are many student who lives in the
cities where the DMU is present but can’t afford that much fee. Therefore the student can
also use the distance learning program. The higher education gives the birth to the cross –
border for the student who has the power to invent or do something extraordinary.

The university provide s the course for the undergraduates, postgraduates (full time and part
time) any many other types of course which help the student to build their career. It helps the
student to build their career and getting the placements in good companies. The university
includes the new courses which are demanded in the market so the student can learn and
work in more technology, and provides the good placements. The university also provides the
tie-ups with many other universities so that the student can work as an intern in the
universities.
Distance Learning
DMU provide the distance learning over the world so that many out of countries student can
learn the courses with the help of cross border education. These DL includes all type of
course that is related to the courses like science, commerce, art, etc. The student can select
any type of course and branches like BSc. MSc, B.Tech etc. with the particular branches.

DMU wants to expand their e-commerce business with the help of distance learning program
they want to expand their business so far and want to provide they the benefits to the student.
To make their business more vast they need to work on the analysis SWOT.
S.W.O.T Analysis

This is the most important analysis for the business to do it at very vast area and have more
number of profits. The SWOT stands for the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
are the situations given to the organisation before taking or starting the new project. In this
DMU SWOT is the thing which it would be helpful for the distance person to learn the
things. The number of courses offered by the university is 300 in total including the
postgraduates, undergraduates etc. To learn the current level of the distance the analysis is
productive and with the help of cross-border helps the student to be the member of the
university.

DMU Strengths
 DMU location is the best because from that place other places are approachable
enough. It is located in the city of Leicester.
 Campus is safe and well maintained and atmosphere is very good.
 The cross-border education programs helps to make the good reputation of the
university in UK.
 Leadership program is there to increase the efforts in the university.
 UK and other areas have strong collaboration with the DMU.
S.W.O.T Analysis
Objective
The object of SWOT analysis is to determine the capabilities, loopholes, strength of the
organisation and weakness too. To execute the program for expansion and the e- learning
which the provided by the DMU.

In is divided into two parts:
 Internal Factors
 External Factors
In internal factor there are sub factors
o Strengths
o Weakness
In external factor there are sub factors
o Opportunities
o Threats
Evaluation of objectives
To identity the actions need to take to improve the current system and the problems faced by
the organisation.
Weakness of DMU
 May be the possibilities of the weak polices of the UK
 Immigration issue can be issued faced by the DMU
 International budget may be not enough to run the DL programs by the DMU.
 Rate of the development may be slow that is the of the staff, employees and
etc. to provide the DL.
 Counselling facilities may not good enough.
 May leads to the limited courses and the limited number of the teacher
available.
Opportunities of the DMU DL programs
 External communities and the relationships interest in culture academic
 Programs and the service which are available in the university.

 Policies should be good enough for the development of the DL program there
for it will give the good and best benefits.
 The cross-border can also provide the better development.
Threats for DMU
 There is the fear of the terrorism.
 Possibilities of the bad admissions.
Summery
The university provides the best infrastructures and has to develop the DL. To achieve it part
the organisation has to focus on the SOWT analysis which consist of the Strength, weakness,
opportunities and threat. The SWOT analysis is discussed in detail so this would help the
person to work and run the business in very effective manner.

The five models of the Porter’s Five Force Model
1. The Power of the threat of substitutes
It is of medium pressure. This is the same type to perform for the DMU but in the other
forms. In some competition improve the qualities and the cost should be offered nominal.
Example: The DMU wants to open the DL program which should be on cloud technology
whereas one more institute provides the offline courses such as note, PDF etc. So this will
leads to threat.
2. The Power of Students or Customers
This comes under the high pressure which will be powerful and have more impact on output
by making the price and the quality of the product and provided very vast services. The main
plane of the DMU is to make the university famous all over the world by provide the DL
program so that if there is any student to want to studies for the high education but can’t
afford the fee then he or she can take it this.
3. Power of Suppliers
This also comes under the high pressure which has to supply the things with proper data,
information and the materials. The supplier is not only staff they can be government,
university etc. The one who provides the course or anything come under suppliers. And it
contents the high pressure.
4. Competition in industry
This is the main and the important fact of the industries or the markets. There will be more
number of the organisation who will be looking for the DL program. So it’s important to
build the program at should be different for all other and the organisation can say the answer
of the question that why we are best from other in same category.
5. Potential of new Entrants:
It comes in the low pressure which consists of the entry barriers with the high quite
educational sector as the need of requirements. The accounted helps to the institute to achieve

the norms of the future to get into thee good ranking. The student will need the highly
qualified teachers because the teacher will be the one who will be responsible for the good
education provided by the DMU and will enhance the university in terms of various field.

There are some dreams of the student to study and have the degree of the big universities but
the thing is they can’t afford the fees of the University. The university provides the PG and
UG all over the world for the distance program. To make it successful the DMU has to have
cultural traditional and the trust so that more number of student can purse the degree from the
university DMU wants to provide the distance learning program so the student who are
interested in pursuing the higher education will be able to continue the studies by siting at
their place only DMU wants to expand their e-commerce business with the help of distance
learning program they want to expand their business so far and want to provide they the
benefits to the student with the proper trust and want to resolve the cultural issues.
Trust issues:
The student may ask the questions that how they can trust on the university that it will
provide us the same DL which they provide offline. Many students have May issues about
rust that they should provide the valid courses not the expiries one.
The answer is that the DMU provides the feedback of their course which can’t be edit by
anyone. the owner of that feedback will only responsible for the editing on the feedback, to
make it successful the DMU has to have cultural traditional and the trust so that more number
of student can purse the degree
Cultural Issues:
DMU has to have cultural traditional and the trust so that more number of student can purse
the degree from the university DMU wants to provide the distance learning program so the
student if the student want to study and can afford the fee but can’t take the environment
properly because they might not have the cultural like the UK cultural so this may be one of
the issues.
 Time zone: The country times varies therefore the course should be given on the
particular country’s time so that it will be convenient for the student to learn and
complete their assignments.
 Language barriers: The language should be understandable by all that the student can
easily understand that language and are easily comfortable in that. There should be the
language option or there should be one international language that is English with the
subtitles.

 Feeling the website will help the student to learn new things an also gives the good
feeling of the courses.
