1. The Analysis
What’s
going on?
The organization has taken the responsibility to make software for its client. The
name of the project is Willis project. Jason is the senior developed for the project
under the guidance of Greg, the project manager. Jason is making the project,
however, Greg is concerned about the stability and the quality of the project. Jason
is telling that he will be making three versions and will be sending them overseas
for coding.
The project manager, Greg, has called the senior software developer, Jason for
proper follow ups of the Willis project. The scheduled deadline of the project is
approaching and the software is not ready yet. Moreover, entire coding of the
software is still left. In reply to this, Jason has said that they would be making three
versions of the project and would be sending those versions overseas for the
purpose of testing (Scenario 1: Overseas Codeshop, 2018). The project manager
is concerned about the stability of the project and the time of completion of that
project. Greg then has called the program director and suggests to replace the
current project team with a new team as he is concerned about the product quality,
stability and timely submission.
What are the
facts?
There are few facts in this particular case study of “Overseas Codeshop”. The first
fact is that the project manager, Greg has summoned Jason, the senior software
developed. He wants to know about the status of the project that how that project is
running (Peters, 2015). The next fact is that Jason informs that the project is going
good and he would be making three different versions of the software and also
would be sending all of them overseas for testing. The next fact is that Greg is
concerned about the stability of the project and he thinks that the software may
crash. He even calls the program director for replacing the project team with a new
one.
What are the
issues?
Who is
affected?
The main issues in the this scenario of “Overseas Codeshop” include that Greg is
concerned about the stability of the product to be delivered by Jason and his team
(Crane & Matten, 2016). Jason, on the other hand, is confident about his product
and wants to make three version of the software. Another important issue is that
the project manager wants replacing Jason and his team with a new team by
taking the help of the program director.
The client is solely affected here as he would be getting the software after
deadline. Since, Greg has decided to remove Jason from Willis project, the new
team would take time to complete the project (Noddings, 2013). This would also
affect the quality of the software as the project team would be changing. Moreover,
Jason is also affected as he was working really hard on the software.

What is the
ethical issue?
What are the
implications of
the ethical
issue?
The ethical issue here is that Greg is concerned about the stability as well as the
timely submission of the Willis project (Niebuhr, 2013). He does not want the client
or the organization to suffer because of the delay or poor quality of the software.
Moreover, he even does not want Jason to work more on the software as he would
be sending the versions overseas for coding purpose.
The implication of this ethical issue is that there would be major delay in the
product delivery as the entire project team would be replaced with a team (Trevino
& Nelson, 2016). Jason and his team has made most of the project and they know
the proper details of this software. Another implication is that since Jason is
removed, he might feel de motivate.

What can be
done about it? In terms of the ethical issues, the project manager and the program director should
discuss and listen to Jason and his team. This would come into a specific end
result and the team would be solving this type of dilemma easily and promptly
(Noddings, 2013). Moreover, this would also lead to better software for its client.
The client would be happy with software and the software would also be submitted
within time.
What are the
options?
In terms of the ethical issues, three options are present. The first option is that
Greg, the project manager requests the Senior developer to chuck the idea of three
versions and work on one particular version only (Ciulla, 2014). The second option
is that Greg disapproves the idea and the actions of Jason. The third option is that
Greg believes and trusts on the Senior Developer and approves his action.

Which option
is best?
Why the
above option
is the best?
The second option of Greg disapproving the action of Senior Developer would be
the perfect option in the scenario of Overseas Codeshop.
The second option is the perfect option. This is simply because Greg does not
want to compromise on the quality of the product and he wants to submit the
product within given deadline (Durkheim, 2013). Jason and his team incapable to
do so and thus replacement of this team is urgently needed for the betterment of
the organization. Moreover, the product would be stable enough and would not
crash at all.
