Case Study
AI Summary
This case study presents a comprehensive case plan addressing the domestic violence situation involving Stacey and her parents, Kurt and Vienta. The primary concern revolves around Stacey's safety and well-being due to the parents' frequent arguments, Kurt's alcohol abuse and gambling habits, and Stacey's recent behavioral issues, including truancy and substance use. The case plan sets goals for Stacey's safety at home, parental reunification, and potential long-term out-of-home care if necessary. It outlines strategies such as conflict resolution, open communication, and alternative coping mechanisms for Kurt and Vienta to manage their disagreements. The plan also assigns roles and responsibilities to each family member, sets timeframes for compliance, and specifies expected outcomes, including cessation of harmful behaviors and improved family dynamics. Regular reviews are scheduled to monitor progress and adjust the plan as needed, with the ultimate aim of creating a stable and supportive environment for Stacey.

CASE PLAN- DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CASE 2
Danger Statement
I am worried that Stacey will not be safe to live with Kurt and Vienta her biological
parents because they must get into arguments each day due to Kurt’s excessive drinking and
wastage of family's money on the poker machines. The couple says that they are currently
experiencing some challenges managing Stacey, their eldest daughter. The girl is attending
school sporadically, is struggling with the work and is at the risk of being suspended from
school. Of late, Stacey has been coming home late smelling of alcohol and cigarettes. Her
parents say that she never arrives at home before 2 am and never explains where she has been. If
this continues to happen, Vienna is worried that her daughter might drop out of school since she
hangs out with a group of Tongan teenagers who do not attend church or school.
Case Plan Goals
For Stacey to remain safely at home, her protection needs to be met by Kurt and Vienta.
It is a big world out there. When Stacey was a child, Vienta and Kurt were always there for her,
but as she gets older, the couple spends less time with her since she spends most of her time out
in school. We agreed that it would be their duty to make sure that they prioritize Stacey. Every
time she sees the two quarreling, she becomes stressed. Kurt and Vienta should start responding
to Stacey's coming to the house late. Stacey will probably stick to her morals if she sees her
parents concerned about her well being.
Kurt and Vienta should reunify with Stacey. The constant arguments between Kurt and
Vienta have made them forget that they have a daughter to care of. The goal of this plan will be

to reunify Stacey with her parents on a long-term basis. The idea has to ensure that the mother-
daughter relationship between Stacey and Vienta reignites
This plan will seek for a long-term out-of-home-care. If the reunification of Stacey and
her parents will not be to the best interest of Stacey, an alternative to long-term care will be
arranged with a member of the extended family of Vienta or the church.
Additionally, in case the problem persists, Stacey might be adopted by a more caring
person or taken to a childcare center in the nearby. This will ensure that she will not get addicted
to cigarette and alcohol abuse. It will also save her academic life since she is at risk of being
expelled out of school.
Dated
This case plan was prepared on 10th November 2018.
Identified Strategies
Strategy 1: The most critical approach is that Kurt and Vienta will not argue again. Kurt
will also not get drunk and most importantly, he will not waste the family money on the poker
machines. The hostile strategies that Kurt and Vienta use with each other have made Stacey
distraught, hopeless, anxious and worried. This has led to her outward reaction with anger hence
resulting to development of behavior problems such as getting high and sporadic attendance of
school. This stress has interfered with her ability to create a conducive environment for learning
at school. She is now at the verge of being expelled from school. This strategy will make sure
that Stacey’s behavior of coming to the house late will stop since Vienta and Kurt will no longer
argue in the house.

Strategy 2: Kurt and Vienta will want to reassure Stacey lots if they disagree about
something, use loud voices or argue. This will assure her that they are no longer in bad terms.
Strategy 3: Kurt and Stacey will sort out issues they disagree about by talking and
drafting a plan they both think works. Kurt will write the time they do this in the safety journal
so they both remember their excellent job and can tell others.
Strategy 4: If Kurt and Vienta get angry and start to argue, Kurt will go to the watch
room and watch some videos. The arguments most often happen in the bedroom or dining room
so Vienta will stay there and Stacey will be with her. Kurt will record the times they stop the
arguments this way in the safety journal.
Strategy 5: Sometimes Vienta and Kurt will need extra space and moments to think. Kurt
will go for a nature walk to the park or the football ground, Vienta, and Stacey will stay in the
house. There is a spare key hidden outside so Kurt will not be locked out if Vienta feels she
needs to lock the door when he leaves. Kurt will record the times they stop the argument like this
in the safety journal.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Kurt must stop getting drunk, and as well he must end spending family money on the
poker machines
2. Kurt and Vienta will keep peace in the family. They will stop arguing.
3. Stacey will have to stop coming to the house late. She must be in the house one hour after
school
