In the following essay, I will look to ventilate my thoughts regarding the issue of
domestic violence i.e. very much related to the social issue of ‘Close to Home’.
I have chosen this particular social issue because this has been a very pertinent problem
in the recent times. In the latest surveys across the households, it has become a huge concern that
children and females of the community are continuously being decimated and victimized by
violence (Berns: 30) The events like forcible sexuality with women, torturing the children on the
house out of frustration and all such activities are the parts of domestic violence.
The social workers have a big role to play in the elimination of this social issue. The
gender discrimination is another form of this domestic violence (Buzaw et al. 56). Therefore, I
should focus on the fact that equality should be there in the households as well as the abolition of
gender discrimination (Berns: 47). This will definitely end the concept of the domestic violence
and will be an important indicator for the social issues related to Close to Home.
I condemn all types of violence that takes place within the society. So, it is highly
evident that I would like to engage with all the communities so they can enquire about the facts
that have given rise to the domestic violence in the society (Buzaw et al. 39). I believe I can
convince the victims to take the proper steps so they can report these issues so steps can be taken
by Governments by applying some policies.
On a concluding note, I would like to say that wraths of domestic violence must be
stopped and only then the ethical considerations of ‘Close to Home’ can be fulfilled.
