Main Body
Need of a service user group
My profession is related to domiciliary care for the elders and the service-user group includes the
one who are provided care and assistance in their living activities at their home including
activities such as bathing, toileting, feeding, walking etc. With the hectic work schedule and
concern for proper care the requirement of this service user group i.e., elder people has
significantly increased. Also I realised that it has been increasing due to the fact that people do
not understand the need to personal care for a longer period for the improvement of the mental
and physical health of an elder patient and due to this the number of such service-user group has
been increasing overtime (Hughes, 2017).
Roles and main duties, responsibilities and task of the profession along with difficulties and
eases
My main roles, responsibilities and duties are interchangeable depending upon the
requirement of the situation of the patient. I have to assist them in washing and dressing them
properly in the morning as well to provide them aid in toileting throughout the day. The task
related to my profession is that one genuinely must have interest in helping the people for
maintaining the quality of their life and for this I have to be act with patience, sympathetically
and politely so that the wellbeing of the patient can be ensured. Being a domiciliary care worker
I have to monitors the medications that has been provided to the patient but as I do not have
proper training to be an administer medication I face difficulty in doing so. But by developing an
understanding with the doctors treating the patient and the patient itself the difficulties can be
managed easily (Manthorpe, 2019).
Relationship between professional group and service user group
Better relations need to be developed with the service user group as with this better services
can be provided. Better understanding among each other leads to identification of the problems
that they have been facing and personal care enables them recover soon. Such services are
requested by the family members of the patients when they are located at far place or they are
unable to manage the patient due to their work commitment. With better relations among these
two the efficiency can be ensured with better environment of care within the home. This also

motivates the professional to make deliberate choices for the better recovery of the patient with
best efforts (Marshall, 2017).
For appoint a domiciliary health care professional there are various requirements which has
to be ensured so that the safety of both can be ensured. It includes the registration of the
professional in which the type of services they will be responsible for will be defined. This is to
regulate the actions of the service provider and to ensure better services with authenticity
regarding the abilities of the professional.
