INTRODUCTION
“Management case study” refers to the idea where a description of all real-life
management issues can be seen. It is also related with providing the best solution to present
issues. This report is based upon one such issue of Domino's (Burke, 2011). It is essential for the
company to find appropriate solutions to their prevailing issues in order to successfully run their
business in the market. Domino's is one of the largest pizza chain companies in all over the
world. They are having maximum number of franchises and approximately 600 retail outlets in
the nation. It was first established in Australia and listed in Australian stock exchange. This
report will be helpful in understanding the issues related with Domino's and thus, the
productivity of company can be improved.
1. Identification of major issues and its causes
Mentioned report is based upon the idea where concept of management case study can be
seen in context of Domino’s. There are some basic problems that can be found in the present
company. It is important to discuss and find solutions to those issues which are hampering the
productivity of company. Thus, in order to maintain the efficiency of all operations being
performed in firm, it is necessary to deal with all the issues that are arising in company. Given
below are the major issues that are being discussed in the given case study of Domino's:
Workers are not happy
In an overall view, Domino's seems to be one of the most popular companies in all over
the world in context of delivering fast food like pizza and soft drinks. They are making people
happy by proving variety of pizza. But the reality is far away from this. There are many
managerial issues in the company due to which the productivity of the company is also get
affected. (Drucker, 2010). One of the major issues in context of given case study is the problem
of worker's unhappiness. As it is a well-known fact that workers are the key to success of any
company, they are liable for performing the task and thus, for meeting the targets. But in this
report, it has been evaluated that workers are not happy because of underpayment of wages.
Employers were exploiting their workers.. All the workers were spending more time in the
outlets without getting paid for the same.. They are even not getting right salary for the number
of hours they are working. They do not get break and thus, they get exhausted while working
without any break.. Thus, it is hampering the productivity of Domino's.

Franchisees
This is the second most critical issue faced by company. It was claimed that the
franchisees were using an unlawful conduct of business (Wells, 2017). They were indulged in
wage fraud. There were some serious issues like manipulation in the shift hours of workers,
breach in context of payroll conditions and practices, they were not getting correct amount of
wages.
On the basis of above mentioned issues, the possible causes are as follows:
“Del Santo” was one of the most powerful franchisees of Domino's. He was having 10
stores at the outskirts of Sydney. Due to his greed and carelessness, employees were suffering at
Domino's.
Franchisees must be given to the responsible peoples who will run the business in the
most effective manner.
Because of the selfishness of the franchisee and managerial drawbacks, the company were facing
the issues.
2. Identification of minor issues in company and its causes
Minor issues can be defined as those problems that are not causing so much of harm to
the company but these issues can not be neglected as well.
Minor issues can be derived from the fact that there were not so good working conditions at the
outlets of the Domino's. This will somewhat hamper the productivity of the company. Employees
were not at all happy with their working conditions and thus, they had a feeling of dissatisfaction
with their jobs. Safety issues were there and thus workers were not at all feel safe at their
working place (Herzberg, 2010). It is very important to give concern to all minor issues in the
company as well. This is because if minor problems were neglected then this will further become
one of the serious problems of the company. Therefore, it is essential to take a look upon the
minor problems of the company in order to maintain the efficiency of the company.
Thus, it is very important for the company to give focus upon the ways by which these
minor issues can be resolved and workers can give their 100 percent in the company.

3. Issues with reference to course notes and scholarly articles
Above mentioned issues were related with employee’s dissatisfaction in relation with
underpayment of wages and not getting a favourable working condition as well. (Bakan and
Buyukbese, 2013). They were also not getting exact amount of salary. In this respect, there are
several course notes and scholarly articles available to describe the current issue and also, to
provide the best solutions. Amanda K. Caldwell has defied various employment laws in the UK.
Under these laws, wage and salary administration has been discussed. It is set under the law that
every worker must get the wage as per his/her working hours. There has be a procedure followed
in order to ensure the minimum wages criteria. The National Minimum Wage act was
established in 1998 and for every 20 year age, the minimum wage per hour is £6.19.
4. Solution to the present issues in company
It is essential to take appropriate actions in order to solve the mentioned issues in
Domino’s. This is because; in order to maintain the efficiency of company, it is important to deal
with all current problems associated. Given below are the all possible solutions to the issues:
1. It is required by the main head of company to choose trustworthy franchisees. In this way
only, goodwill of Domino’s in the market can be maintained. This will ensure that
company's mission, vision and objectives are effectually achieved. Company's image in
the market will not get affected.
2. It is important by main head to convey major aim of company to the franchisee. There
has to be a provision of training and development programs in which workers as well as
employers will get to know about their core roles and responsibilities and ways by which
they can ensure the best results out of their duties.
5. Recommendations of the best solution to above mentioned major issues of Domino’s
It has been mentioned in the above report that there are some serious issues in context of
Domino's. This is related with the problem of employee’s dissatisfaction due to several reasons.
There were the issue of underpayment of wages.(Lumley, Coetzee and Ferreira, 2011). They
were also not getting safe working conditions and also, there was no time for rest given to the
employees. They were not getting their salary as per their working hour. In the second major
issue, there were the issue from the side of franchisee for breaching their rights. .

One of the best solution to the present issue faced by Domino’s can be the selection of
criteria for choosing franchisee. This is important as under franchise, an entirely different person
will be working as per the name.. This is the reason; head of company has to ensure the ways by
which image of brand can be maintained in the market. For this purpose, franchiser needs to
make sure that they choose trustworthy franchisee so that the issues like underpayment of wages,
unfavourable working conditions, de-motivated employees and many other employment issues
can be resolved.
Thus, by choosing the best solution, company can get back to its previous working
condition where employees were fully motivated and working in a healthy and positive
environment. This will surely enhance the effectiveness of company in terms of its operations
and results.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above mentioned report, it can be concluded that the concept of
management case study plays a vital role in order to understand the various issues in the
organisation.. Domino's is one of the major companies in international market. They act like a
market leader in terms of serving pizza and soft drinks to the customers. This report basically
holds the idea where some major issues of Domino's can be evaluated .. They were facing a
serious problem of underpayment of wages. Employees were not getting a safe and healthy
atmosphere to work. Thus, they were not at all satisfied with their job. This will create distress in
the mind of employees. Result of this can be seen from the type and level of productivity from
the side of workers. For this purpose, there can be some immediate actions that must be taken in
order to handle or tackle this situation.
