INTRODUCTION
It can be said that experience acquired from clinical visit and reflective account
will help to understand the concept of demonstrating our knowledge, skills and gathering
information regarding the topic. The report will cover the model of Driscoll's structured
reflection which will help to determine the roles and responsibilities of workers in the firm and
will also describe the three perspectives such as What, So what and Now what. The report will
cover the reflective cycle and theories in practice along with different nursing skills and
knowledge. The different aspects and clinical as well as professional responsibilities will be
discussed in this report by me.
TASK 1
Q1 Pleasant and unpleasant event of clinical experience by utilising Driscoll's structured
reflection model
As a reflecting account, I will share my views and experience with the clinic which was a
pleasant event for me effectively. I had a great experience with the clinic in terms of providing
effective and quality services as well as products. The technology used by the firm is also very
good and effective in order to reduce the impact of different diseases efficiently. There are
pleasant workers, nurses and other members who are always ready to attend the patients and
people who visit the clinic. The environment is also very good and positive that the culture
followed by the clinic members is very good and helpful for the patients in order to recover as
soon as possible. There are many people in the firm managing activities in the firm such as
cleaning, staffing and shopkeeper etc. The time I had spent in the clinic was like an event for me
and makes me happy with all the services and happy faces around effectively and efficiently. The
feeling was so good that I will visit the place again and recommend the same to others. This will
help others to take benefits of effective services and hospitality. Everything is in the firm was
placed perfect and necessary things are always available for the patients effectively. CO2, Gas,
Petrol, Security system, Alarms, watchmen etc. are important for the firm and should be
available in the firm.
According to the Driscoll's model of structured reflection, the whole experience and
description with relevant actions in clinic will be demonstrated with experiences (Abbasi,
Moatari & Pourahmad, 2015). The model mainly considered the three W, which states or What,
So what and Now what. This will put a positive pressure of demonstrating the clinical experience

with different aspects effectively. The model is useful in order to provide better understanding of
the experience and clinical practices within the firm. This will also help to find the strengths and
weaknesses of the firm which will aid to improve and develop accordingly and effectively. The
three W will help organisation by demonstrating the purpose, mission, vision and analysis of
event. In addition to this, the experience will help to determine the specific needs which
organisation requires to improve their activities.
DRISCOLL'S MODEL OF STRUCTURE REFLECTION
Experience in clinical practice: Very first, I will demonstrate my experience with the
clinic according to the services and products. I was suffering from fever and cold that I
finally decided to go to the clinic in order to receive the proper treatment from doctors
effectively. The clinic is very good in terms of providing quality and effective services
which will help patients to recover as soon as possible effectively and efficiently. Doctors
and nurses are also very good in nature and talking which also help to address the patients
in various terms such as nature, disease and impact etc. The staff provided me the best
services such as medical, medicines information, things to do in condition of fever and
many more (Driscoll 2007). This is an effective impression they left on patients minds
efficiently. I observed that the doctor maintains a good and effective relationship with
patients in order to assess their physical and mental stage which helps to provide
medicines accordingly. I have a good knowledge and understanding of the realities of
medicines that I have seen the people in clinic committed towards the practice of
medicines effectively. So, I must say that the experience was very good with the clinic
and also effective that I receive some good and quality services and the treatment which
is effective for me.
What?: The event was to attend people with different diseases and demands for
treatments effectively. Here, the main purpose of the event was providing effective
medical facilities and benefits to the patients in order to manage the pleasant and safe
environment within the firm efficiently. This can be said that when I was getting my
treatment, all the co-workers and co-doctors were listening carefully to their seniors,
which is a very good activity for the firm and themselves effectively. The description
refers to the organisational activities in terms of today and tomorrow. The firm is actually
doing well in the sector of medical and improving the services in order to provide quality

and effective products plus services to the patients. This will help them to fill their
purpose and will also assist people to improve and develop by taking health advices and
suggestions.
Purpose of aspects: My reaction was just shocking that the clinic staff members were
paying their full attention towards me in order to attend me as a patient effectively. The
main and key aspect for the firm is care and treatment (Agarwal, Warburton, & Baron,
2015). It can be said that lessons are learned from experiences that the main purpose of
the firm is to improve and develop the skills and knowledge of employees in order to
manage the effectiveness and quality of services and treatment. This can be done by
managing and organising events, increasing skills and knowledge by training programs
etc. health professionals are the most important part of medical organisations that they are
the one who provide treatments and necessary changes in patients in order to remove the
disease which can be big or small. It is great to watch doctors and nurses in the firm
providing quality services and products to the patients which will help him to recover as
soon as possible. The major aspect is the potential clinical experience which demonstrate
effective knowledge and skills towards medical activities.
So what?: So what refers to the analysis of event which will help to express all the
activities and aspects of firm effectively and efficiently. It can be said that the event is
organised in order to provide effective and quality medical facilities to the patients. This
will help people to reduce the impact of various diseases. This will also ensure the well-
being and healthy environment at workplace and for the local people as well. The
analysis will describe the potential impact of medical on local people. People suffer from
different kind of diseases in terms of physical, mental etc. Thus, there should be a special
health professional in every sector such as mental and physical to attend patients with
various diseases. This will help patients to demonstrate their disease well and will be
treated effectively by the professionals. I got a quality treatment and wont troubled from
anything in the firm. My feeling is also very good which makes me happy and confident
towards the firm so as other people.
Discovering: Discovering refers to the process of reflection and from which what
learning has arises effectively and efficiently (Barbarin, Klasnja & Veinot, 2016).
Discovering something will help to discover different things related to it and will also

help to determine aspects which are necessary for the firm. It can be said that discovering
will help medical firms to express themselves and to assess the medical requirements in
the market. Discovering medical and clinical activities will also help to determine various
aspects and things which are important in order to accomplish the desired objectives and
goals of clinical firms effectively. Discovering will also help to manage operational
activities which have a positive impact on the firm. This will also help local people to
acquire medical facilities and improve the level of living standard and healthy life. Such
things will help to increase the health and safety environment within the place and nation
as well. These things are crucial for the firms in order to provide better quality services to
the patients effectively and efficiently.
Now what?: Now what, refers to the implications which will be for me, my friends or
patient. There are different types of situations arise in a firm that there should plans and
strategies in order to cope up with different conditions and situations effectively. It can be
said that the sometimes, organisation needs to make changes in order to manage and
control situation which could be repeated in the future. In order to manage this, firm
should analyse all the situations and aspects which will help to determine the future
uncertainties. There should be something something different in order to manage the
situation differently and effectively. In addition, there should be alternatives for the
situations in order to manage and control them which will also help organisation to
improve and develop their operational activities. I will recommend employees in the firm
to gain their skills and knowledge as well to contribute towards managing the different
conditions and situations. In order to follow the event, proposed actions will be made by
me. Such actions will help to control various conditions in the firm in terms of patients,
people and other humans.
Implementation and action: The previous case and explanation will help me to assess
the actions required to follow the event effectively. This will also help to measure the
main aspects and elements from which the activities will be managed effectively and
efficiently. This will also help organisation to achieve their desired goals and objectives.
According to this, some action plans are made by me in order to manage the different
situations in the firm regarding medical facilities and benefits to the patients. Clinical
practices will help to assess the proper management of medical facilities and will also

help to implement the decisions. Decision making which is very important part for every
firm in order to manage the operational activities is also crucial for the clinic (Chaturvedi,
Misra & Kumar, 2017). Decision making will help management to ensure the proper and
appropriate management and control over activities. This will be ensure by me that
patients are reverencing quality services from the staff.
Thus, the Driscoll's model of structured reflection will help to understand the clinical
practices and its importance. The process of Driscoll's model of structured reflection is provided
below:
Having an experience in clinical practices.
What is the description of event?
Purpose reflecting on selected aspects of that experience occurring in clinical
practices (Pai, 2015).
So what is the analysis of event?
Discovering what arises from the reflection process.
Now what proposed action following the event.
Actioning towards new learning from experience in clinical practices.
In this essay, I will describe the skills of nursing which I took during my practice which
will be done by using Driscoll's model of structured reflection. The three steps: What happened,
So what and Now what will be included in the practice. It can be said that reflection is part of
attaining understanding and knowledge.
The first skill is to develop and improve the communication between patients and nurses.
This will be done by me by organising a meeting which will be based on experience and
knowledge and involves, social workers, adult nurses, therapists and carer experience. After that,
I will discover the behaviour and communication of nurses with patients in order to provide
services. There are almost 2.5 million people in the UK who are communication impairment and
50% to 90% people have intellectual disabilities. Communication is an effective process in
which two people exchange their needs, facts, feelings, opinions and information which is
meaningful through both verbal and non-verbal means. Two people send and receive the
message and the response is given after receiving the message effectively. I suggest that both
verbal and non-verbal communication process is important and crucial for the firm in order to
provide effective benefits and services to the patients efficiently. Some strategies and plans are

needed to communicate and promote empowerment and reinforcement. This will help nurses to
to enhance and communicate the experience. For an example, conductive environment should be
created such as careful listening, understanding the body language, use simple and short words
while speaking and speak slowly that the patient can understand the meaning of talking. A
qualified and effective nurse will ensure her or his decisions on behalf of the service users and
much consultants within the practices.
The second skill will describe the dignity concept and its importance relation to the nurse
and patients effectively (Peisachovich, 2016). In addition to this, there are different kinds of
patients in the firm with various disabilities and diseases. For an example, hearing and learning
disability, need assistant while walking etc. nurses should maintain their dignity towards patients
in order to provide effective and quality services to them which will help to improve and develop
as soon as possible. Dignity refers to the feeling which a person feels when he put himself to the
place where the patient is right now. This will help nurses to understand the real pain of patients
and will try to provide relevant resources to them. The main concept of dignity should be run
with respect, privacy, autonomy and self-worth as well as identity. Lack of dignity will reduce
the positive impact of efforts and embarrass people in the firm. There are so many things which I
observed during the session that nurses need the support of executives and upper level
management in order to manage the work effectively. This will also help to fill the demands and
requirements which are necessary for the patients within the firm.
The program will remain effective if all the practices will be done appropriately and
effectively in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Negative interactions,
misunderstandings and misbehaviour will not be tolerated and nurses should maintain the
peaceful and harmony environment at workplace. Clinical practices will help to assess the proper
management of medical facilities and will also help to implement the decisions. Decision making
which is very important part for every firm in order to manage the operational activities is also
crucial for the clinic (Sharoff, 2015). Decision making will help management to ensure the
proper and appropriate management and control over activities. It can be said that lessons are
learned from experiences that the main purpose of the firm is to improve and develop the skills
and knowledge of nurses in order to manage the effectiveness and quality of services and
treatment. This will help patients in terms of securing all the health and safety issues. The
analysis will describe the potential impact of medical on local people. People suffer from
6

different kind of diseases in terms of physical, mental etc. Thus, there should be a special health
professional in every sector such as mental and physical to attend patients with various diseases.
Nurses will follow the instructions made by the professionals for the patients in order to manage
their medicines and other food products and services important and necessary for him and her.
There are some perspectives of patients that they think the clinic will attend them as a major
priority and will provide all the effective services related to the disease and recommended by the
health professionals effectively.
The third skill will look at the assessment I did above. I was told to write a reflective
account which will be towards the medical and clinical sector and on the nurses working in it.
The main role and responsibility of a nurse in a hospital and clinic is important for the firm that
she is the one who manages the patients effectively and closely (Stewart, Edwards & Finlayson,
2017).
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the above report that reflective writing is all about
demonstrating our knowledge, skills and gathering information regarding the topic which will
help to express our feelings on a specific topic effectively. The Driscoll's model of structured
reflection will help to understand the concept of clinical activities by taking three perspectives
such as What, So what and Now what. These are entirely discussed above in which all the roles
and responsibilities of nurses, workers and other members in the firm is explained in relation to
clinic. In this essay, I will describe the skills of nursing which I took during my practice which
will be done by using Driscoll's model of structured reflection. It can be said that reflection is a
part of attaining understanding and knowledge.
