The drug addiction of the residents living within Mungallala in the south of
Queensland has reached an alarming stage on account of the poverty of the people living in
the region. The average salary of the people living within the region is above $ 3000 in a year
that has made the people of the town prone to the drug addiction and the overdose. The drug
addiction deteriorates the physical and the mental well-being of the individuals living in
Mungallala and across the world (Roxburgh et al. 2017). The illicit drugs can be easily found
on the streets of Australia and this makes a large number of Australians take recourse to
drugs. The young people in Australia who belong to the age group of 15 and the 19 are at
greater risk of getting addicted to the drugs. The deaths on account of the accidental drug
overdose have increased in Australia in last 15 years. The use of the opioids is a major cause
of the overdose deaths taking place in Australia.
The families of the people who are involved in the drug addiction have face severe
consequences. The women in the families have to face the domestic abuse and the financial
struggles that raises hurdles for the people. The children who grow up amidst the adverse
environment face the risk of being removed from home and they have more chances of being
placed in the state custody (Best et al. 2016). There takes place a large amount of crime in the
