Your post has good ideas. It is actually true that some stakeholders fail to integrate scientific concepts
due to the fear of political conflict. Genomic and genomic data can be a great milestone in
environmental science if taken into consideration. In order to incorporate genomics and genomic data,
there is the need for consensus among different stakeholders and this has not been the case. Your post
clearly captured this and it is a matter of fact. In my own view, it is important that different stakeholders
understand that science is real and very important and should be totally alienated from political
interests.

expertise, there is the need for collaboration. No single field can run independently. Just as like you
mentioned, a toxicologist would assist in extracting toxic substances in an organism and then the

important role. We should therefore not look down upon any field or expert just because of its

Actually, toxicogenomics wouldn’t be what it is today were it not for the use of microarrays. Similarly,
the term toxicogenomics would not be in existence if it were not for microarrays. A good example you
have provided is how revolutionary microarrays were in the pharmaceutical industry yet there was no
monetary gain from the same. It is therefore to understand the full potential of any scientific innovation
without necessarily focusing on monetary gains or the market incentives, could that have been the case,
there would be no microarrays. Similarly, toxigenomics would have remained a paper project for good.

$2.7billion for conducting clinical trials is so high. This explains why drugs are that expensive. However,
microarrays seems to the solution in since it is less time consuming and produces many compounds at
the same time. However, your concern is that despite the use of microarrays, the price of drugs still
remain high. I think this is due to lack of collaboration among different sectors and you have highlighted
that part. It is therefore important that different experts come together to produce quality and less
costly drugs.
