Article: Pill Testing – Russian Roulette as Drug Policy
Pill testing is a harm reduction service (also known as drug checking) that analyses the
contents of drugs to help in avoiding the usage of unknown drugs which can contain harmful
chemicals in them. It has been analyzed that the music festival that has been going in state from
the last few months has witnessed highest number of drug admission. The admission is mainly of
adults ranging from the age of 19-25. There has been a metaphor that pill testing is same like
Russian roulette (Barratt and et.al., 2018). Australia needs to take line pill-testing just like
Europe in order to stop the demand and supply of the drugs. The addiction of drugs among
young adults has been increasing at prevailing rate. This is laying significant impact on their
health and well-being and also reducing their quality of life. It has also been analyzed that
making use of illicit drugs needs to be stopped as it is giving rise to large number of crimes and
also the crime rates are been increasing day by day (Watters and et.al., 2019). It has also been
analyzed that from the usage of drugs one who suffers the most are poor, vulnerable. It has also
been analyzed that in case of domestic violence the consumption of drugs and alcohol as
contributed about 48. Pill testing is really required and must be legalized in order to reduce the
consumption of harmful chemicals such as drugs.
