INTRODUCTION
The mental health is being defined as the emotional, cognitive and behavioural well- of
the person. It is very essential for the person to maintain a good mental health so that they can
have a good life over the time. The consumption of drugs can have great impact over the mental
health of the person. This is pertaining to the fact that when the drugs will be consumed in large
number then it will have a greater impact over the health of the person. Thus, it is essential for
the people that they must not consume too much of drugs as this will create major impact over
the health and mental stability of the person (Cohen, Weizman and Weinstein, 2019). Hence, as
a result of this mental ability and thinking and decision making skill of the person will
deteriorate.
The current study is based on case where the victim is a young chap named Delower who
is 24 years. His friend introduced him with drugs as a measure of entertainment and gradually he
became addicted. Hence, all these problem and issues resulted and affected the mental health of
the patient to a great extent. Hence, it can be stated that too much use of the drugs can cause
severe impact over the mental condition of the person. The present study will outline the history
and different literature relating to the effects of drugs on the mental health. Also, in the end the
analysis of the effects of drugs consumption over the mental health will be highlighted.
MAIN BODY
AIMS AND GOALS
The major aim of the study is to analyse what effects the drug consumption can have over
the mental capacity of the person. In the current era the drug use has become a trend and majorly
the young people are getting attracted towards the use of this and it resulted in increase in mental
stress for the person.
HISTORY
This report is related to the case study of Young chap named as Delower that is age of 24
years ago but initially it looks like 40 year old man. Its friend has introduced him with the drug
for having enjoyment but it finally becomes addicted to the same. Likewise, it has been addicted
to the marijuanas drug, since 4.5 year and almost take four times in particular day. At the same
time it has been identified that the individual look anxious and irritated, and its physique was
emaciated and lean. It was suffering from mild anaemia and Jaundice and nothing abnormality
has been detected in the lungs, kidney and heart (A Case Study of Drug Abuse, 2020). There are

several feeling that has been faced by the Delower because of intake of drug, like the peevish
temperament occurs, along with it he does not like to even work or talk. Furthermore, it has been
observed that he is feeling fever, headache and anorexia and sometimes it also suffers from
vomiting. So, it can be stated that the Delower has been suffering from drug addiction that has
resulted in negative impact on the mental heath and well- being of individual (Contreras and
Hipp, 2020).
REVIEW LITERATURE
From the points of view Van de, Mulrooney and McVeigh (2019), there are many
individuals that are highly addicted to the drugs that has caused them mental disorder. In
comparison with general population, the individual that are addict to drug are more prone to have
anxiety disorder and mood swing so it can be stated that it result in negative impact on mental
health of the person. Likewise, as per statistic of 2015, there are around 43.4 million of adults of
age 18 that have suffered from mental illness. While there are 8.1 million that have faced both
mental and disorder because of use of drug. Therefore, it can be stated that drug and mental
health have complex relationship with each other that is some people may experience may have
more negative impact on their mental health as compared to others.
Another author Heinbockel and Csoka (2018), also supported that there are various things
that lead in causing negative impact on mental health of person due to use of drug. Such as
starting making use of drug at young age or already having mental health difficulties. In addition
to this making use of stronger drug at frequent basis also lead in causing more mental health
issue. Furthermore, the author has specified that family history of mental illness also results in
increasing the likelihood of having mental health effects due to use of Drug. Taking high dose,
not sleeping proper lead in increasing risk pertaining to the mental health and well- being of
individual. Or all these substances directly impact on though, mood, feeling and behaviour of
individual.
According to Horigian, Schmidt and Feaster, (2021), there are different substance that
are present in the drug that impact on mental health and well-being of the individual. So the
person must be aware about all the substances that can adversely cause harm on its health to stay
healthy and fit for longer time frame. For examples: Cannabis is one of the most common that
has been used as Drug in England such as it has been identified that out of 1 in 13 people that
belong to age group of 16-59 has make use of it. People have make use of it to feel relax or more

happy but it has resulted in more anxious or feel paranoid so overall it is not good for their
mental health and well-being. New Psychoactive Substances is another substances that has been
present in the drugs which is similar to cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis. So, it is named as legally
high drug that lead to confusion, feeling of panic and reduction in the stress level of individual.
Thereby it is one of the most dangerous substances that increases the chance of dangerous or
associated risk.
ANALYSIS
From the above analysis, it can be stated that Delower has been highly addicted to the
drug since 4-5 years, along with it he consumes the same frequently that is around four time
within one day. So, it directly has negative impact on mental health and well -being of Delower
and it has become lean due to mental stress. The drug that has been taken by Delower,
Pharmacologically act as a antitussive and expectorants. Such as it contain following substance:
Ephedrine Hydrochloride-7.2 mg3, Promethazine Hydrochloride-3.6 mg and Codeine-9.0 mg.
In-taking of the drug at regular basis has resulted in causing several health issue such as
anorexia, headache, fever and vomiting. It becomes high irritated and frustrated or negative harm
caused on its mental health thus it neither able to complete work nor in condition to talk with
other (Parker, 2020). Moreover, there are various other side effects of in-taking the drug on
mental health of individual such as dizziness, lassitude, and inco-ordination and deep sleep.
Along with it, it has been found out that codeine phosphate also have side effect that is vomiting,
drownsiness and constiation and nausea. So all these healths issue are not good for health and
well-being of person that are living in society.
Furthermore, there are many other things that has also been analysed through the above
study of Delower that have become addicted to the alcohol at very younger age. As its friend has
force to intake the same for having entertainment but in result in its habit to have on regular
basis. Thus, it results in disorder or negative impact on mental health of Delower so it has to find
method to reduce the intake of drug. Along with it the Delower has been taken stronger type of
drug which is no good for its health. So, it can be analysis and understand, in order to stay
healthy and fit (Bharadwaj, Pai and Suziedelyte, 2017). The Delower has to reduced its intake,
take proper sleep and exercise so that it can reduce the mental stress to some extend for better
health and well-being in future circumstances.

CONCLUSION
The above report concluded the fact that the use of too much drug has many different
aspect and can affect the health to a great extent. This is particularly because of the reason
that the in case the drug will be consumed on large scale then this will improve the working
efficiency of the person and this will improve the working efficiency of that person. The
present study highlighted that the victim is addicted to the drugs since many times and is of
just 24 years’ age. Hence, further with help of the analysis it was analysed anA Case Study
of Drug Abuse, 2020,d evaluated that the major impact of drug consumption is over mental
ability of the person only. Thus, as a result of this overall working condition of the victim
was affected and was not in proper condition of working.
RECOMMENDATION
With the above evaluation it is clear that the drug consumption is not good for the health
of the person both that is physical and mental. Hence, it is very essential to either remove or
minimise the habit of drug and drug addiction. Thus, for this some of the recommendation to the
victim to overcome the issue of drug consumption are as follows-
The first and foremost recommended step is to remove or end the toxic relationships.
This is very essential for the reason that if the person will not live with the people who
have habit of drug consuming then this will restrict the person to consume the drug
(Volkow and et.al., 2017).
In addition to this another suggested guide to the people having drug addiction is that use
the support system. This is very essential for the reason that when the person is addicted
to drugs then this will affect the working environment and more people will get addicted.
Along with this another advisable strategy for overcoming the issue of drug consumption
is that to undertake the proper and effective use of the support system. This is particularly
because of the reason that when there will be proper support system then those people
swill support the addicted people and due to this there are chances that people will get
ready and will not undertake the use of drug anymore (Yu, 2018).
Hence, in the end, it can be stated that the use of these recommendation will provide a good base
to the person so that it can improve the working efficiency of that person. Also, this will assist
the company in motivating and encouraging other people to not go for any of the other words
activities.
