Personal and Professional Development Plan
Currently I am lacking various skills which will develop with the help of this personal and
professional development plan. Currently I have knowledge of the importance of decision
making and effective communications. My communication skills are not very effective and in
future my focus will be on developing the communication and decision making skills. I have
negative thoughts in certain situations currently and I am working on it for staying positive in
every situation. I have less knowledge of the manner in which time has to be managed which
could affect my performance. For coping with this I am planning to develop time management
skills.

The framework of personal and leadership development
I have planned to adopt transformational leadership skills so as to motivate others and helping
employees by providing them with a vision of the future. Transformational leadership will help
in inspiring other employees for following me. Transformational leadership style will help me in
setting a clear vision, self-motivation, inspiring and follow through. This style will help in
converting the followers into leaders. A personal and leadership development framework has
been selected. The motive behind the personal and leadership development framework is to
reflect leadership in actions. There are five domains of the personal and leadership development
framework which are independent and interdependent. These five domains are discussed below:
Developing and leading self: for being a good leader, there is a need to develop oneself first
by being self-aware and self-management. According to this domain, one must take
responsibility for their actions or behaviour. A good leader must believe that it needs to
develop and manage itself continuously. Before expecting others to follow the leader, a
leader must develop and manage itself. I need to develop my skills and knowledge before
expecting others to follow me. This domain for the framework will help me in focusing on
development and management of my skills (PriceWaterhouseCoopers’s Annual Global
CEO Survey, 2011).
Building relationships and engaging others: being a leader, one must develop a healthy
relationship with others and engaging others by connecting with them. This development of
healthy relationship helps in contributing to the outcomes of the others to the company. It is
difficult to achieve the results without developing relationships and engaging others .
Partnership and collaboration: for the attainment of the goals of the organization, it is
required to develop partnership and collaborating with others as this will support the
process of attainment of the organizational goals. This domain helps the leader by
providing diverse views and insights which will develop creativity among the others. For
grabbing the opportunities available, a leader must develop partnership and collaboration
(Searle & Barbuto, 2013).
Shaping a preferred future: a leader has to identify the situations and aware of the signs.
This will help the leader in adopting an effective strategy for coping with the situation. A

leader must demonstrate critical strategic and systems thinking. According to this domain,
a leader must use the influence in a positive way and promote shared leadership. A leader
must appreciate the issues and acknowledge the concerns of the others.
Achieving results: the role of effective leadership is to help in achieving the results. The
focus of this domain of the framework is on applying the skills for the purpose of achieving
the outcomes. According to this domain, a leader must evaluate the approach regularly so
as to implement changes in the approach as and when required (Gavino & Portugal, 2013).

Impact of national and organizational cultures and social practices on
the current leadership perspective
The human resource of the company includes employees of different cultures who are working
together for the attainment of the organizational goals. Organizations are operating at the global
level and this increases the issues faced by the organizations due to differences in the cultures. A
leader must be aware of these issues arising due to the differences in the culture. The leader will
have to adopt different ways of setting the vision so as to not create harm to the interest of
employees of different cultures. Communication skills also affect the leader and different
languages are used by employees of different cultures. Different individuals have different views
and a leader must understand the views of different employees. Organizational culture affects the
performance of the leader (Zenger, 2014).

How to be a successful future leader in different cultures for performing
well in the increasingly global economy
There has been a rise in the globalisation which has resulted in an increase in the need for
developing leadership skills for coping with the different cultures. Cultural differences act as a
hurdle for the leader which to be analysed and effective strategies need to be applied for
overcoming this hurdle of cultural differences. A global leader must develop skills or
competencies which are discussed below:
COMPETENCY DESCRIPTION
Strategic perspective A leader must have a clear view of the future
of the company. This knowledge of the
industry will help the leader in analysing the
market trends and economic trends. This will
help me in setting clear views and taking
initiatives for managing cultural diversity
properly (Clawson, 2014).
The ability to spot the trends A leader must be capable of analysing the
trends for coping with the culturally different
economy. I will be able to identify the impact
of the cultural differences and taking steps for
resolving the issues due to the cultural
differences.
