LITERATURE REVIEW
What is concept of the e-banking and cybercrime in context with the UK banking industry?
As per the view of Barker (2020), E-banking can be defined as a form of banking in
which all the funds are transferred by an exchange of electronic platforms instead of by an
exchange of checks, cash or any other form of paper documents. Electronic banking systems are
defined as a system that helps in building relationships between the clients and the banks through
electronic devices rather than paper documents. This basically means that type of banking in
which the bank uses satellite or electronic based computerized instruments which helps in
ensuring accuracy and promptness in the banking transactions. Cybercrime is defined as any
illegal or fraud activity that is carried out by using computers or by using internet. Cybercrime is
not a good practice and also harm the security and financial health of an individual.
What is the role of e-banking in eliminating the issue of cybercrime within Lloyds Banking
Group?
As per the view of Olowokere and Olufunmilayo (2018), E-banking plays a major role in
cybercrime as the customers are generally using internet for conducting all the activities.
Cybercrime generally includes ATM card frauds, credit card frauds, phishing, spamming and
denial of service which harm the financial health of the business as well as employees of the
Lloyd's Banking group. With the rise of digitalization and internet services has raised the risk of
fraud by hacking personal information. The Lloyd's Banking group mainly focuses on spending a
high budget on system related to cybersecurity so that cybercrime gets reduced as cyber
criminals are finding new and creative ways to hack the system of banks. Following and
measuring cybersecurity guidelines for the banking group is very necessary because banks carry
important and confidential information about customer data like credit details.
What are the advantages that Lloyds Banking Group could be gained by overcoming cybercrime
through e-banking?
According to Baechler (2020), There are several advantages that Lloyd's Banking Group
gain by reducing cybercrime by the use of e-banking. First advantage is that it helps in protecting
the customer data which is very confidential for the bank to retain that information properly.
Second advantage is that it helps in protecting the mode of payment when performing online
transactions. Introducing firewall for carrying out banking operations helps in creating a barrier

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research approach: Research approach mainly consists of two approaches that is primarily
known as inductive and deductive approach (Ngozwana, 2018). In the present research, the
researcher is using deductive approach as it will help in testing the existing theories in a better
way. The reason for selecting approach is that it helps the researcher in gathering and analysing
quantitative data in an effective and efficient manner for achieving the objectives of research.
Research philosophy: Research philosophy can be classified in two parts that is known as
positivism and interpretivism. As per current research, the researcher has selected positivism
approach because quantitative data is more useful in achieving the aims and objectives in a
proper manner. It is selected by the researcher because it helps in completing the whole research
in a reliable manner and in gathering the information about the topic in an authentic way.
Research strategy: Research strategy is generally used by investigator to carrying out the
research in a more suitable manner. There are different types of research strategy such as focus
group, action research, survey and many more to conduct the research. As per present research,
the researcher has chosen survey strategy for the specific topic. It has been selected by the
researcher because it helps in deriving accurate and correct information from the given topic in a
more appropriate and collective way.
Research choice: Research choice is divided into two types that is defined as quantitative and
qualitative method. As per the current investigation, the researcher has selected quantitative
method as it contains numerical figures which are easy to evaluate (Säfsten and Gustavsson,
2020). The reason for selecting this type of method is that is easier to calculate and in
understating the figures and facts and in interpreting the data in a proper manner.
Data collection: Data collection is of two types which is known as primary and secondary data.
In the present investigation, the researcher has chosen both primary and secondary data method
for conducting research. Both the methods are important as it helps the researcher in gathering
and analysing more detailed information about the given research topic and is also a most cost
effective method.
Sampling: Sampling is classified in two parts which is defined as probability sampling and non-
probability sampling. In the present conducted research, the researcher has selected probability
sampling in order to select the participants without any partiality. This method is selected
because it helps the researcher in gathering correct and fair data from the selected number of

CONCLUSION
It is concluded from the above gathered information that e-banking plays a very important role in
the banking sector as it helps in reducing the risk of cybercrime. Through e-banking the
operations of banks becomes and easy and fast and this has safe the time of both employees and
customers. For securing the confidential information and data of the customers in the bank it is
important to have full knowledge about the cybercrime and ways to overcome that risk.
