In the present era, internet played a significant role in the success of a business unit. This
report is related with the web 2.3 and its use in the digital business model in order to attain
competitive advantage over rival business organization (Bélanger,and Crossler, 2011).
Retaining competitive advantage
Information technology today is a knowledge capital issue which can create a need of
business transformation form traditional to digital platform. There are various E-commerce start
ups which can create a serious issues for the large business organization like NEXT PLC.
Therefore. The cited company required that to use innovative tools so that they can attract large
number of customers from the market (Ifinedo, 2011). According to the data from higher
authorities approx. 90 percent population of United Kingdom are using internet. It is good
opportunities for NEXT PLC is to use E business platforms so that they can provide competitive
superiority to their business unit in the market.
Different types of business model
There are various E-business model which can be used by NEXT PLC in order to attain
competitive advantage as given below:
B2B In this business model the trading activities of goods and services between
two corporate units. It is a business model which enables a business to
interact with another business entity. NEXT PLC can use such platforms in
order to increase their market share and sell their products to small retailer
across the world (Casadesus-Masanell,and Ricart, 2010).
B2C This is another business concepts where a company can sell their products
directly to its final consumers. This model is popular day by day due to its
cost effectiveness. NEXT PLC required to launch an attractive E-platform for
their internet customers. There are large number of customer which are
unable to come their physical store due to several reasons. The cited company
can promote their online portal and provide goods at the lower prices.

Web 2.0 is a technological advancements which can meet the growing customers
expectations in a appropriate way. Web 2.0 is provide a new experience which is integrated with
social websites and online collaboration which is a similar to physical shopping experience.
Today there are various social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram etc. are also be
linked with them. It provide various facilities where a customer can give feedback, shopping
turns and interaction between consumer and producer (Fuchs, and et. al., 2010). Next PLC can be
used this platform to promote their products and services and also conduct their customer
feedback in a effective way. So that they can improve their product quality and provide better
services to its customers.
CONCLUSION
As per the above mentioned report it has been concluded that the role information
technology in the business is too important. The report is explained about the the different types
of business model and extensive use of web 2.0 in the business by the NEXT PLC in order to
attain their long term goals.
