2ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE
Introduction:
Enterprise architecture is the procedure by which various companies organize and
standardize the infrastructures of IT in order to align it with the aims of business. These
strategies support transformation those are digital, growth of IT and the modernization of
Information Technology as a department.
The report discusses about the enterprise architecture, the various components, and
the frameworks of enterprise architecture. The report discusses a case study about the DMC
Company that will implement enterprise architecture. The report focuses on the frameworks
of EA and the comparison between EA and EA3. EA3 is one of the frameworks of EA.
Case Study Description
The Chubb is an insurance company that offers casualty and delivery insurance
products to individuals and businesses. The enterprise architecture of Chubb’s has evolved
from the year 2012. The company moved from a difficult model to a more centralized model.
In order to make the transition, the company chose a leader with leadership and management
skills than the leader having technical skills. The main components of the new EA are the
practices of EA and target architecture. The architecture of target consists of principles of
architecture, governance of architecture, conceptual reference of architecture and the
technologies those are emerging in order to increase the combination. The practices of EA
have five disciplines of domain. These consist of governance and strategy of IT, application,
technical, architecture of platform and information. The implementation of EA faced various
challenges in terms of loss of staffs and lines of responsibility. The main problem of the
company is adaption and the EA can decide the speed of adaption.

Architecture in the Case
Enterprise Architecture is a technology and management practise that is devoted in order
to upgrade the enterprise performance by enabling them to view themselves in terms of
combined and holistic view of the their direction of strategy, practise of business and
technology assets. By creating the present and future versions of this combined view, a
company can administer the transition from the present to future states of operation. The
components of the Enterprise architecture include:
ï‚· Vertical component: A vertical component is aim that is changeable, procedures,
programs or assets that serves as a one line of the business.
ï‚· Horizontal component: A component that is horizontal is aim, procedures, programs or
assets those are changeable and that serves as more than one line of business.

EA, the framework of EA defines the architectural scope2. The framework design converses

documentation is like a skeleton of a house that is structural. It is a type of framing that refers

The procedure of documentation and examination of EA is achieved through a
technique of EA implementation that consists of a framework, present views about the
architecture, components and the future views about the architecture3. The evaluation and the
documentation that is organized through a framework of EA offers a view of the company
that is hierarchical and standardized from a combined strategy, perspective of technology and
business. The examples of frameworks of enterprise architectures include ISA framework,
EA planning method and the EA3 cube framework. The main difference between them is that
the EA3 cube framework is a type of documentation framework and it is used in various
companies in order to solve the problems of the companies those are mentioned in the case
study such as the sales sand inventory and the accounting of the company4. The author has

EA3 Cube Framework
The framework for the evaluation and the documentation that is generalized is
introduced and it can be utilised in the both the sectors of private and public. The framework
of EA3 utilizes the shape of a cube in order to demonstrate more than one levels those are
dissimilar areas of documentation of EA; more than one layers of depth those are unique
areas of activity and are referred to as the business lines and more than one sub-cubes at
every level that demonstrate components of EA those are plug and play. The companies can
directly deploy framework of EA3 or can utilise it as a baseline that is initial for the creation
of own management of EA and the approach of documentation6. Various Companies will
require altering some of the elements of the framework of EA3 in order to fit their specific
requirements. That is encouraged as it is identified that various governments, businesses and
many more have various cultures and success factors those are critical. These comparisons
may need various types of adjustments in the framework to deploy a program of EA that
captures the present and the future environment of technology and business7.
The general characteristics of most of the frameworks of EA that the framework of EA3
captures are that they tackle more than one views of the hierarchy of the technology and the

functions of networks and data would take place if every line of business were self-
governing. There are various cases where a company would like to increasingly create their
EA because of the cost or the other considerations11. The architectures of the line of business
must be kept together in order to make the EA demonstrate correctly the whole company and
this is required for the EA to be of increased value to the staffs, executives and the
management.
Conclusion
The report concludes with the Enterprise architectures and the various frameworks of
EA. The DMC Company wants to deploy accounting system, sales, and inventory system in
the company and in place of that; they can be at an advantage if they implement enterprise
architecture in the company. The report focuses on the EA that is discussed in the case and
the components of EA. The benefits of EA and the framework of EA3 is also discussed and
they are compared with EA. EA3 has various types of benefits that will be advantageous to
the enterprise.
