Mentor Review:
As per the mentor or teacher who reviewed the lesson plan that has been created for the
EAL learners covering all the areas of their effective learning, the lesson sufficient enough in
order to make the method of learning in this specific field effective for the children. The mentor
even mentioned the topic which has been covered in this weekly lesson plan, such as, the water
and land objective, festival objectives, friendship objectives, and go green go clean objectives,
are some of the those topics which will be very beneficial for the children, as it will improve
their cognitive skill, creativity skill, presence of mind, activeness, communication skill and sense
of responsibility (Day, 2000). However, he mentioned that these are not the only skill which are
important for the children, as there are some more skill which helps the children in this field if
learning, like, encouraging independent learning, text annotation, meaning making, behavior
management and many more. Also it is important to improvise the teaching procedure along with
the lesson plan, which will make the entire procedure worthwhile (Walkington, 2005).
Reflection:
While creating a proper planning for the ELA learners, which is a five day unit which
implements cross disciplinary skills. It is very important to keep in mind that the planner should
process the plan as per the ability of the learners as well as focusing on their backgrounds. The
planned which I have created taking care of the abilities and background cultures from which the
children belongs to. However, besides doing all this and then planning for the students
accordingly, still there are challenges that I have faced being their teacher. For instance, the
challenges that I had to struggle with the process of understanding the dynamics in the field of
child’ psychology. But knowing the child’s psychology is the key to make the most precise plan

which will benefit the mass number of children and will effectively function in terms of their
learning procedure (Goldenberg, 2008).
The notion of cross disciplinary skill is beneficial in terms of children in the field of
cognitive skill development, growth in sense of responsibility, creativity development,
communication skills development, progress in activeness and development in presence of mind.
The improvement and development of the cognitive skills helps the students in improvising their
comprehension ability, develops their skill in the field of problem solving, it also promotes or
boosts long-term learning, boosts confidence in their learner and grasp the interest of the learner
towards learning. The improvisation in their sense of responsibility among the learners results in
boosting up their level of confidence, it promotes their learning ability and interest at the same
time, it helps them in developing better relationship with their fellow peers as well as other
people, such as parents and teachers, and it implements courage and self confidence in them so
they can take decision and differ between good and bad. Development in their creativity skill
naturally improve their thinking ability, their become more knowledgeable and put much more
effort in thinking on a particular aspect which makes them less prone to do mistakes, also
creativity helps them doing a typical task in more innovative way, it helps them in solving any
sort of problems by using various methodologies and techniques which again polishes their
capability. The presence of mind is a very thing when it comes to child psychology, the
development of presence of mind helps then dealing with the issues they having during their or
other in other aspect calmly and it also promotes their confidence and capability of taking the
right decision, also it helps then learn better without making hurry and mixing up all one thing
with another, altogether presence of mind helps the children in balancing their abilities. The
development in communication skill helps in improving their English speaking ability and ability

to communicate in general; communication skill plays a vital role in in a children’s future
building, if a student is not able to understand what others are saying or not capable of making its
point clear to other people than this issue will automatically harm their communication ability
and later their learning ability which will further effect their coming future negatively (Uccelli, et
al. 2015).
The learning ability and its speed of learning both are important to understand how a
child is performing according to the created lesson plan. An active learner naturally learns faster
than an inactive learner and these terms active or inactive, simply indicates to the child’s
physical as well as the child’s mental activeness, which result in influencing the child’s or the
learning speed, as a physically and mentally fit child learning much faster. Also when it comes to
ELA learning field, the learning speed and ability is also influenced by the learners background,
as if a learner is a native English speaker than it will be easier to adapt the learning method for
the child but on the other hand if the child cones from a non- English speaking background than
it will be time consuming and more effort giving for the child in order learning in this method.
Also the vocabulary and language setting were structured according to the topic of learning, as
the whole learning process and activities are aligned with the requirement of the children. All
these factors extremely essential to be keeping in mind just so that they when we are making a
lesson or learning plan for learners from different backgrounds, that particular plan should be
working for most of the children. That is exactly what I have while making this lesson plan, I
have tried covering as many aspects as possible regarding all around learning of this field in
terms of the learners, such as, information regarding differences of water and land, details and
objectives of festivities, details of friendship and relationship and its objectives, along with
details of the environment and objectives regarding maintaining it; such topics will grab the
