Music and art class where children can learn to sing alongside playing guitar and piano
Reflection
As professional early childhood caregiver, I made sure that daily activities enhance the
growth and development of the child in both physical, mental, and cognition. The activities also
targeted to develop each child’s personality and talents. I upheld the framework and standard by
creating a secure, friendly, respect, and happy environment for the child.
On the other hand, in the capacity of my work placement, I was bound to adhere to the
organizational standards, policies, and procedures. The daily reports were presented to the
parents as confidential document. I was not supposed to disclose the information to the third-
party except discussions with colleague and family member concerned with the child. Every
child needed to be treated with respect, love and kindness. It was a policy that every child should
rest from 1 pm to 2 pm and which must be adhered. The school opened at 7:00 am, and therefore,
I had to be present to receive children and make necessary reporting to parents. Overall, they
meant best service and child well-being.
Additionally, the involvement of family in a child program in school enhanced decision-
making for the betterment of his/her experience. I created friendship with families so that they
became free and could informally offer their opinion without reservations. I also ensured that
they understand their child needs and how they can participate in making him/her experience
better and productive. Therefore, I managed to forge a close connection and hence shared
knowledge, expertise, skills, and culture with the family and child.

Project Report 3
Early childhood education and care constitute an array of knowledge and research. The
program as it is today being not entirely sufficient and continue to be improved and modified. As
such, daily work placement report is part of critical inputs in planning for children learning and
experience in the future. The report will contribute to changes in planning through family and
parent recommendations, environmental changes like changes in technologies, as well as cultural
and political changes. Notably, parents or family observations through feedbacks are created
with the utmost importance as it is directly related to the welfare of the child. Environmental
changes require adjustments and improvement on the programs to enhance learning and
experience. For instance, due to children being dropped and picked up early or late and hence
causing delays and doubts as well as security of the child, it is better to introduce a policy where
every child should be picked by the school bus. It will ensure uniformity in picking up and
dropping off children and improve on their security as well. Additionally, the feedback from
parents contributes to the better the program design.
However, all improvements and changes made to the children programs should be
aligned with the national quality framework and standards. Parents and families need to be made
aware of and be acquainted with frameworks and standards for better integration in child care
plans. Reason being, most parents, lacked understanding of the requirement of these standards
and frameworks and hence can make unreasonable request for their child. Besides, making the
family and parents an integral part of the child’s system of learning enhance decision making and
support.

When children took part in the activity, they share in the experience of building what they
want. All the participants were very happy about the activity as it gave them the freedom to
think and mound anything they want. As such, playing dough aimed to build their motor skills,
hand-eye coordination, and concentration. The resources were available and enough. Children
cooperated, and the activity was finished on time.

The assessments have opened up my perspectives on early childhood care. I have learned

observation, monitoring, and recording of children progress. I was expected to teach children
how to be self-reliant, instill values, and make them experience the ideal world. In so doing, I
applied relevant standards and frameworks. Each activity aimed to develop a specific ability in a
child. Also, I ensured that I was acting for the best interest of the parents with their express
authority. The relationship between me, the child, and the family were guided by the respect of
privacy and confidentiality of both the child and family.
On the other hand, I was expected to observe the ethical code of conduct, organizational
standards, policies, and procedures. The organization expected me to be a professional when
working with children of all ages and when making communication with children families. In so
doing, I had to observe etiquette, integrity, and kindness during interactions. The organization
believed that children are the central component of their existence, and therefore, high standard
services has to be maintained. As such, children had to be in a secure environment, be
progressive in their learning, and show a significant change in their growth and development. In
essence, child growth and development the primary role of my work placement organization.
Therefore, I had to collect information about my children’s behaviors, preferences,
strengths, and weaknesses as well as interests and relationships. I mostly used observation
methods to collect information, including naturalistic and participant observations. The
information collected is then recorded on the daily report that is confidential and handed to the
parent or the caregiver. The whole process of childcare involves observation and tracking of the
child progress so that to make any necessary changes and decisions that will enhance growth and
development.
The information collected informed my program planning for children. I was able to
identify those activities that are most interest to children and at the same time, offer better

opportunities to learn. Also, the records guided me on how to control and predict child behavior,
especially using intentional teaching and behavior modeling. The records also helped me plan for
the activity environment that would be impactful to children.
Successful child care requires collaboration between caregiver and the child family.
There are various strategies to keep the family close and participative for the wellbeing of the
child. I used the daily reports to show a child learning progress and elicit feedback. I created a
close friendship with families so that they can share freely and informally. The organization also
encouraged the caregiver to engage parents for one-on-one discussions about child progress.
Through the above and other strategies, I was able to have responses that informed decision-
making processes. In summation, the work placement has added to my experience in dealing
with children in collaboration with families. The information I have gathered has offered me a
hands-on practice, which will help me prosper in the future childcare.
