THE QURAYSH AND MUHAMMAD
The Quraysh were the merchant clan who used to live in Ka’aba and Mecca. The
control of these two places were in the hand of Quraysh (Cole 2018). They were divided in
many clans and were the most powerful people in these two holy places.
Muhammad was one of the tribe who was born in the Hashemite clan. The Quraysh
opposed the prophet Mohammad for a long time because of their greed and selfishness.
During the life time of Muhammad, the Quraysh were the only clan who controlled the
Mecca thoroughly. Therefore, any wish of the Quraysh family has to be fulfilled
immediately. The quarysh were gaining a good amount of money from the pagans who come
to visit the peaceful nd religious place of Mecca. The message of the prophet Muhammad
was a bad signal for this income of the Quraysh. At the same time, they could realise that
they are losing the control over the Mecca because of the prophet.
The peaching of Muhammad hit the age old cornerstone of the Islam believe. The
Muslims at first were not much concerned with the prophet and his preaching. But as
Muhammad himself was from a Quraysh clan and was taught against the idols in Islam,
gradually the change came. People stared to listen to Muhammad and his spiritual teachings
and the religion business of the Quraysh were ended (Azzam and Gouverneur 2020).
Muhammad continued to preach his message in spite of losing everything and gradually he
became the only source of reliance for the Muslins in Mecca and all over the world.
