Developing a Writing Corner for Early Childhood Education

This assignment details the creation of a writing corner for 2-3 year old children, focusing on the importance of early writing skills and the use of recycled materials. It includes five activities designed to enhance fine motor skills and introduce pre-writing concepts. Activity 1 involves inserting straws into a cardboard box with holes, fostering hand-eye coordination and concentration. Activity 2 uses a threading activity with straws and beads to improve fine motor skills and bilateral coordination. Activity 3 introduces salt writing, allowing children to practice letters and numbers. Activity 4 utilizes a stencil alphabet board to familiarize children with letter shapes. Finally, Activity 5 focuses on tracing and pen control, promoting instruction following and the development of writing proficiency. The assignment references relevant research on emergent writing and provides objectives for each activity. The student used recycled materials for some activities.

The act of writing begins being imitated by children younger than 2 years,
through sketches and symbolic markers reflecting their ideas and thoughts
(Rowe & Neitzel 2010; Dennis & Votteler 2013). This is the beginning of a
series of phases through which children learn how to write (see' Emergent
Writing Stages'). Emerging written skills are powerful predictors of children's
abilities in reading and writing (National Center for Family & Literacy 2008;
Puranik & Lonigan 2012).
Activity 1: pre-writing activity:

Pushing Straw in a carton is an easy activity which can keep toddler occupied for a while.
One can configure this in no time and this is a great pleasure for your children. Straw is a
great activity for fine engine capacity in a cardboard box. Use extra caution and alertness
during this event if your little one is still mouthing. Box with pencil/pen punch holes in the
cardboard. Multiple holes can be made. Make sure that the hole just slips into the straw.
The children learn:
Hand-eye coordination
Color matching
Concentration
Fine motor skills.

Activity 2: Threading activity for pre-writing.
Activity 2: Take a cardboard and paste small pieces of straws. Pass the thread through a particular
color one at a time. Beads can be associated not only with the development of important fine motor
skills but also to expose young children to a variety of mathematical concepts, such as colors,
patterns, shapes, and counting.
Children as young as 2 years old may add string beads to pipe purifiers. Threading beads When
adding different items, including string, cut-up straws, and various size pearls, your skill level
improves. You can mix it up.
The Threading Act helps:
 raising the attention range
 boost hand manipulation (who is a good practice for maintaining a string)
 improves team spirit if performed in a group
 strengthens bilateral coordination (using both sides of the organ at the same time).
Activity 3: Salt writing
Using a DIY salt tray is a great way to enhance the abilities of preschoolers. Simply fill a tray with salt
and provide your child with an instrument to mark the salt. A salt tray incorporates the senses and is
a good way for kids to learn how to write their names, numbers, and letters. This DIY salt tray can be
made for children of all ages in minutes at home to practice prewriting, orthography, and math.
 Children can use labels to schedule them one day for printing.
 Pre-school students can use letters and numbers, write their names and draw pictures of
salt.
 Grade school children can use sight words and simple mathematics

Activity 4: stencil alphabet board
Used as a pre-writing activity where the impressions of the shape of the alphabet stick to the mind as
the child runs its fingers on the grooved portions of the board. The children can play and write with
this, tracing this on paper is also fun.

Activity 5: Tracing and pen control

It can actually grow with your child as his abilities develop and improve, pictures become more
complicated and informative. Through images, we learn to paint as children learn about boundaries
and shapes. Some of the exercises are also repeatable as you go through them and then use the
same kind of ideas to practice and develop their skills later in the Book.
Since most of these books actually concentrate on monitoring events, it brings the child from the
beginner to the older, I've made the right choice because many of these books appear to a certain
point and do not really bring them from the beginner to the future. Children learn
