Project Proposal: Eastern Recycling Waste Management System

This project focuses on the waste management operations of Eastern Recycling (ER), a business dealing with waste transfer and bin hiring services. The project aims to increase ER's profitability and turnover by developing an innovative waste management system, improving waste collection, and fostering recycling. The research explores global trends applicable to the Ringwood, Victoria location and addresses the challenges of e-waste disposal in landfills. The project involves identifying problems, gathering suggestions from staff, and investigating relevant legislation. The project team includes roles for a project manager, sponsor, system designer, analyst, planner, and risk manager. The project also highlights the importance of health, safety, and environmental issues in developing an advanced waste management system. Data collection methods include literature reviews, interviews, questionnaires, observations, and surveys. Challenges encountered include difficulties in arranging meetings with company officials and accurately estimating the project budget and schedule. The project's success depends on the accuracy and reliability of the project schedule and cost estimation, with the ultimate goal of improving bin hiring services and tackling e-waste management under the law of legislation.

Project Details
Eastern Recycling (ER) business deals with the waste management operational services. It is
run by the private authorities. It works as a waste transfer station and provides the facility of
Bin hiring services. There are 21 working employees. Recycling and reusing of the waste is
the mission and objective of the organization. Trucks can unload their heavy loads of waste at
the waste station. Landfill areas are handled by the green waste management program
(Anderson, 2015). Bin hiring services focuses on collecting the waste from the societies,
residential and other commercials areas (Badewi, 2015). Landfill centres are used for sorting
of the bin takes place at the bin for recycling of waste.
The key drivers of our research are to increase the profitability and turnover of the ER
business to achieve sustainability and development of the innovative waste management
system for improving the waste collection process and fostering the waste recycling program.
Research also helps in exploring the global trends which can be effectively applied on the
Ringwood Victoria location so that waste can be systematically handled. Declination of the
ER business can be overcome by designing the trendy and innovating program for handling
waste and providing door to door bin collecting services. It is seen that required waste
management program can be developed by controlling the e-waste disposal in the landfill.
The legislation is developed for ending the practice of e-waste disposition in the landfill areas
which had an adverse effect on the environment. The consequences of our research program
are to control and systematic handling of bin on the landfills under the laws of legislation.
Our research is conducted for tackling the e-waste management system by identifying the
problem domain and taking suggestions from the workers and staff members to identify the
issues and challenges faced in the current working system. Investigation helps in finding out
the legislation imposed on the landfill areas for disposal of waste. Health, safety, and
environment issues are the pillars of the research because it boost up the process of
developing an advanced waste and bin management system so that sorting of the bin can
takes place at a faster rate without any human intervention. It is required to develop a smart
system for the Ringwood locality.
Team is developed for designing the innovative system for handling waste of residential and
commercial areas. Role and responsibilities are provided to the stakeholders such as project
manager is responsible for controlling and scheduling the project tasks and activities, project
sponsors provide relevant funds and budget, system designer prepares the project design for

waste management system, System analyst collects information and data required, planner
prepares the project plan and schedule, and risks manager identifies the risks and challenges
faced by the new system during the initial stages of the project.
Experience and knowledge is gained by contributing to the research program. The research
study helps in identifying my weaknesses, strength, and decision making quality, which I
possess as a researcher. I am able to identify perceptions and their applications to foster an
area of researching.
In this project, I contribute by investigating the waste management practices currently used
by the ER business to collect the waste from the different areas. Face to face interaction with
the staff members and customers helps in finding out the problems and challenges which they
face in their daily curriculum activities. It helps in bridging the gaps in meeting their
requirement and the services provided by the company by designing and development of the
new innovative waste management program. Administration control policies are developed
for handling the waste at the site location in the systematic order. Data is collected from the
literature review, interview, questionnaire, observation, and surveys. Research methods help
in designing the research questions to provide a direction so that waste can be effectively
collected by initialling the global trends through newly designed program. The legislation is
developed for ending the practice of e-waste disposition in the landfill areas which had an
adverse effect on the environment. Our contribution is to come up with the new program
which is capable of tackling the e-waste management system under the law of legislation.
Identification of risks at an early stage of the project fosters on providing the control
measures to tackle the government changing policies. Bin hiring services is improved by
identifying the gaps in the current working of the organization in collecting the bin from
different areas.
Challenges were coming across during the arrangements of data collection methods because
it is difficult to arrange meetings with the high officials of the company who can highlight the
pitfalls of current working environment and their requirements with the newly designed waste
management system. It is difficult to estimate accurate budget for the project so that
overrunning of the project can be minimized (Hamad, 2018). Problems are faced during the
development of the project schedule because setting of time duration to the activities is based
on perception if one activity is not completed on time than it affects other activities and
results in project delay (Itegi, 2015). Success and failure of the project depends on the

accuracy and reliability of the project schedule and cost estimation plan (Ollows, 2015).
Investigation helps in finding out the legislation imposed on the landfill areas for disposal of
waste. It is a prerequisite of project to identify the negative side of the designed project so
that chances of system failure can be reduced. Major challenge which had faced in the
research program is to analyse and evaluate the action taken by the customers of residential
and commercial areas.
