INTRODUCTION
People management is related with managing people in an organisation by appropriately
training, motivating and directing them so that they can perform their work in an efficient
manner by using their skills and talents. In order to optimise the productivity of an organisation
and promote professional growth it is important that the managers and leaders of company are
effectively able to boost employee performance through motivation, guidance, inclusion,
employee engagement etc. This also help the company in achieving its long term goals in an
efficient manner (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). In this report Easy Jet is taken so that the
various areas that can help in managing people that can help in improving performance of
company can be done which can help it in achieving its goals efficiently. Easy Jet is a British
low cost airline group headquartered in Luton, UK. The company gives both national and
international scheduled services in more than 300 countries having more than 15,000 employees
which make managing people in company very important. HRM of the company is focused on
using new technology in training and developing its employees so that its services can become
highly competitive in market.
MAIN BODY
Area-1) Leadership and management
Leadership and management plays an important role in Easy Jet as it help in managing and
leading the employees in an efficient manner so that they can be directed towards achieving
company goals and also in using the talent of employees in an effective and efficient manner.
Leaders help in directing, coaching and monitoring the performance of workers so that they can
use their skills in achieving company goals (Cherry and Jacob, 2016). Managers on the other
hand play a wider function of managing all the employees in organisation, allocating roles and
responsibilities among them and also coordinating their work so that organisational goals are
achieved on time. In Easy Jet which comes under travel and tourism industry, it is important that
the services that are given to its customers help in achieving maximum customer satisfaction.
Through efficiently managing employees their performance can be made effective so that high
customer experience can be achieved.
In order to effectively manage and lead the employees in Easy Jet it is important that the
models that are used in leadership and management are selected based on the outcomes that are

to be achieved. Transformational leadership style can be adopted by the leaders of Easy Jet so
that they can create an environment where all the employees are given chance to become a part
of decision making which help in encouraging them as their vies and opinions are considered in
company’s decisions. This will also increase employee engagement so that all the employees can
become dedicated to their work which helps in achieving company goals on time. This also
improves their performance and work efficiency that can help in enhancing customer satisfaction
so that the sales of company can increase.
The managers of company can use the Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs model so that the
employees of company can be highly motivated to perform their work in an efficient manner. As
per this model an individual has five hierarchical needs and as they get fulfilled the employees
feel motivated and their work efficiency improves. The needs are psychological, safety, love and
belongingness, self esteem and self actualisation. These needs must be fulfilled by the managers
of company so that the employees can be highly motivated to perform well (Yang, 2016).
It is important that the management at Easy Jet establishes effective communication in the
organisation along with employee engagement so that the employees of company can be directed
to use their talents towards company goals. It also help in creating a friendly and cooperative
working environment so that high motivation can be achieved among workers. Effective
communication and decision making skills can help the management of Easy Jet in monitoring,
controlling and directing the work of employees. Thus the leaders and mangers of company are
recommended to use transformational leadership and democratic management style o that the
employees can be made inclusive in decision making that can help in boosting their confidence
and trust in company. Easy Jet can also find out ways through which more customer satisfaction
can be generated through new and innovative ideas of employees which can help it in becoming
a global brand (Hansman, 2016).
Area-2) Training and development
Training and development plays an important role in enhancing the employee performance
as they help the employees in acquiring new skills and sharpen the existing ones so that their
performance can improve and they can work better. Effective training and development
programs in Easy Jet are important so that the employees can regularly enhance their skills and
help the company in achieving its objectives. This also helps them in using new technologies in

five stages which are: Analysis-in this the need for training is assessed based on job analysis and
employee analysis. Planning-This involves setting of goals that has to be achieved through
training the employees so that the training material, media selection, strategies to train the
employees etc. can be planned. Development- At this stage the training material is designed in
such a manner that can help in development of the employees. Execution-The training is
imparted to the employees. Evaluation-It means that the performance of workers is evaluated so
that the success of training can be measured. Easy Jet can use this model so that the training and
development needs can be identified and employees can be trained accordingly that can help
them in performing well. It also increase employee retention in company which help in reducing
the frequent recruitment costs of company.
Easy Jet follows the philosophy of 70:20:10 in which 70% of learning takes place on the
job, 20% takes place through coaching and mentoring and the rest 10% takes place through
formal learning like face to face programs. The management of the company require certain
important skills and knowledge so that the training and development can be given efficiently to
the employees so that they can help in achieving company goals in an efficient manner (Kane
and Kiron, 2017). Effective communication, conflict resolution, work life balance, time
management etc. are some important elements that can help the managers of company in training
and developing its employees. Also it is important that the performance of employees is
regularly measured so that the areas f improvement can be found and improvements can be
made. Also with the introduction of new technology the company needs to train its employees in
using them efficiently so that high level of performance can be achieved.

and developing the employees so that they can use their skills and talents in such a manner that
company can achieve its objectives. In Easy Jet employees play an important role in the success
of company as they help in giving efficient services to the customers so that their experience can
be enhanced and demands can be fulfilled. There are seven components of talent management
which are: strategic employee planning, talent acquisition and retention, performance
management, learning and motivating, compensation, career development and succession
planning (Maqueira 2019). All these components are followed in Easy Jet so that it can use its
workforce in an efficient manner which can help it in achieving its long term goals. The
company is known for treating its employees as a part of company so that they can feel
connected and motivated to improve their performance and work efficiency. The HRM of easy
Jet also give importance tro rewards, performance appraisals and many other benefit so that the
service of its employees can help in achieving high customer satisfaction.
In order to manage the staff of company in an efficient manner Easy Jet can follow the
AARRR model which stands for acquisition, activation, revenue, referral and retention. The
stages of this model must be applied in company effectively so that maximum benefits can be
achieved by company which also help it in accomplishing company goals. The employees of
company must be recruited and made part of the organisation so that they can stay motivated to
use their skills and talents in the most efficient manner so that sales of company can be
increased. This also helps in improving the employee retention of company which can help it in
gaining a competitive advantage in market (Clarke and Higgs, 2016). The company can also
apply effective talent management techniques so that the employees can be motivated to improve
their work performance so that customer experience can also be enhanced which is very
important in service industry so that company can become competitive in market. Motivated
employees can also come up with ideas that can help it in bringing innovation in its services so
that customer satisfaction can be maximised.
Easy Jet can efficiently manage the talent of its company through various processes so that
the employees of company can be encouraged to perform better. The company is recommended
to strategically plan its workforce so that the skills and talents that care required to perform a job
