One of the models that many healthcare organizations have embraced to help in their
efforts to surface patient care and quality outcomes is the Quadruple aim (Sikka, Morath, &
Leape, 2015). The Quadruple Aim framework involves the triple objective of lowering the total
cost of care and population health, patient experience and improving workforce well-being with
the mindset that motivated healthcare professionals to equate to the happy patient (Sikka et al.,
2015). This paper looks at the connection between EBP and Quadruple Aim by reflecting on how
EBP might impact or not impact on the Quadruple Aim. It analysis these connections by
addressing measures such as patient experience, costs, population health and work-life of health
care professionals.
According to (Crabtree et al., 2016), EBP can be described as the incorporation of
clinical practice, patient values and the best research evidence into decision making for quality
outcome. Its strategies allow nurses and other health care specialists to interpret research findings
into health care practice. With systematic knowledge of literature searching and its application,
health care providers can apply the existing scientific knowledge and incorporate it into their
clinical practice for each patient thereby targeting the triple aim in health care.
Sometimes healthcare providers experience symptoms of fatigue due to difficult tasks
that are ahead of them. In this case, EBP can empower them with skills and knowledge to deliver
evidence-based care thus improving the patient outcomes. According to patient (Sikka et al.,
2015), EBP prepares health care providers to outline clinical inquiries, execute the accessible
literature reviews and have the idea of analyzing and evaluating evidence by translating it into
clinical practice. Such skills and knowledge helps health care providers to be able to overcome
barriers by settling on the best clinical choices to accomplish the best clinical results. In such a

resulting in a significant improvement of Quadruple triple aim of the healthcare organization.
While working as a health care provider, many issues exist where one is burdened with
non-caregiving work. In this case, the significance of EBP comes in which helps in restoring joy
that ensures healthcare staffs have physical and psychological freedom from harm and
disrespect. In this care population, the health and work-life of health care providers are markedly
improved.
